i know something no one is thinking about that would match your amp choices well, a GH100TI

i have played one, it dawned on me that would fit you PERFECTLY. single channel, raw when you want it, and crunch is its middle name. damn good clean tones too on the low gain input, i want to own one someday, i had the chance to borrow another band's during gun-hiring their drummer while ours had family matters to attend - kept me from having to haul my rig over there on short notice. damn thing screamed, sounded great - way better than any vintage modern or early model marshall i have ever played. and its not some custom one off that will cost you an arm or a leg like others being mentioned.

Classic rock? Deluxe Reverb and some pedals.

Can't argue with either of these. The Vintage Modern seems to be a love/hate amp for most people - I am on the loving side :D . To give it a little extra, I boost it with a Barber Direct Drive and it absolutely rips.

The Deluxe Reverb is also a great choice and without a doubt the amp I play the most. With the volume up around 5 and an OD pedal there are some great tones to be had, especially with single coils

What is that? A Laney?

Just save some time and Modding and get a Bray 4550. Will do all the classic rock stuff and high gain.

Or if you want a clean channel too, check out Jerry's Surreal stuff. It might be just what you're looking for.

VHT/Fryette Deliverance D60H and be done with it,one of the most versatile single channel heads ever made. You can go from 60s plexi to modded marshall Jose to everthing else, just a great amp.Tight aggressive and in your face.Early Van halen anyone........Oh I forgot to add if you do purchase a VHT/Fryette Deliverance remove the sovtek and chinese 12ax7 tubes and replace them with the JJECC83S pre amp tubes, also remove the KT88 tubes and replace them with 6550s(Sovtek 6550WE),bias the amp nice and toasting and you will have a amp to die for.....

:) The Deliverance or Sig X was what I was also thinking. These amps do modern and vintage sounds. I feel they blow away everything else mention in this thread. imo&ime...

If you're looking for a good marshall sound on a budget, these continue to slip under the radar for some reason, and could be had for like $450; great amps. Used on old Sound Garden and Candlebox albums as I recall. I've heard big name modded amp that don't sound this good. I'm jonesing for one.
