In the last week I have had people PM me about stuff I have for sale. One guy said he wanted buy a pedal that I am selling and asked what my PayPal address was so I emailed him back with the info. No reply. I hit him back the next day to ask him if he still wants it and no reply.

Then another guy PMs me about something else I have for sale. He is local to me so he gives me his email address and says email him there. I do with all of my info and no reply.

WTF??

If you don't want the stuff at least reply saying something!!! Jeez. :gethim:

Its common courtesy! I've told people let me know if you dont want it, and I've told them its fine if you dont want it just let me know. Sometimes you hear from them sometimes not!

It's so true...everytime I inquire about something I always get back to the buyer with either 'yay or nay'. It's just the way it should always be done. I've been in your position just sitting there wondering and it sucks!!!

If someone says they'll buy and then blows you off, that's one thing. Just asking questions doesn't necessarily mean they should give you a definitive yes or no.

or how bout when sellers post items for sale, and you express you interest, but the seller ends up backing out? that pisses me off. it's happened to me a few times. don't post if you're not ready to sell!!! :codeak:

Could be worse. I was after a Gibson SG Jr. on the TGP. I wanted to know the neck profile. The seller didn't know, said it was "the same as his 03 LP Studio, whatever that was...". Thanks, that told me nothing.

So I whipped out the tape measure and checked the profile size/length on my 59 LP Jr at the 3rd, 7th, 12th and 17th frets, and posted them to him in the thread, etc.

He writes back that he thinks it's the same. I said "Good, get me pics of the neck to body joint, headstock, etc area, and if that checks out I'll paypal you the $$$."

He says he'll take pics and email them to me that night.

Silence.

Next day, nothing.

Two days later, nothing.

I finally do a search on the TGP for the thread.

He sold it that same day, didn't email, PM me or even reply in the thread...just edited his first post to say it was sold.

So, I hear you...common courtesy you say? Uh...you talking to me?

Yeah...I'm talking to you!

You're not alone.

Good call...I hate that! The whole "feeler" thing is a total douche move as well...get your "feeling" done on your own time then post in the classifieds when you're ready to sell!

No shortage of tire kickers out there, and people seriously lack common courtesy.

I just had an ad up on craigslist and got so annoyed I pulled it down. One guy, instead of asking me if I'll take a certain amount on a unit, flat out tells me "$400 for your Neumann" and that's it. I told him there was no way I'm selling a Neumann for that amount (that's canadian $ to boot) and didn't bother giving him a counter offer.

its easy for people to hide behind a computer, being face to face, most would not pull that.

The reason I don't use PayPal. Them SOB's got hacked and my personal info ended up in someone's list. It took me years to unwind that shit. No compensation from PP, just apologies. After the threats and nasty-grams I sent, there should have been at least a FO call!

If a seller or merchant has this as their only method of payment, I keep on looking and remind them of what fuck-wads PayPal is. Don't ever expect help out of FleaBay, unless talking to a computer works. Trying to claim insurance out of DH Hell, UPS, FedEX is like pissing up a rope.

The first guy said "I'll take it, what is your PayPal address." I sent it to him. No reply.

As far as the 2nd guy, it was a different item, and I wasn't complaining that he wasn't going to buy it, just that he asked me to email him so we could set up a time for him to come check it out. I did and...wait for it...no reply.

Nothing wrong with asking questions at all, I just think common courtesy would be that if you changed your mind to let the seller know. Takes 5 seconds to do.

its even worse when you go to meet someone or you take time out of your day n they DONT SHOW UP! :powpow:

To me that would be an automatic SHIT LIST to pass around the forums! :gethim:
No reason for that. If you go to meet for a trade/sale at least have phone numbers and if something came up you should call at the soonest available time you know.
I did purchase and met the guy in person. He had a busy schedule so it was postponed like 3 times but he was very informative to me and kept me posted so that wasnt such a big deal.
But the deal went thru and I was pleased with the purchase.

Just expect it when you are selling something, much less stressful.

I hear you though. :)

So far damn near all my online trades/sales (Outside of ebay) have been pretty decent.
*knock on wood*
Got some killer gear here on this web site.
Got burned on another forum but so did like 10 other people that trusted this guy. :gethim:

This is craigslist at it's finest. I'd rather sell something on the forums and deal with mailing it rather than have to meet someone to buy something.

I did just sell two things from craigslist where I just mailed the pedal to them after they made deposits to my bank account. That worked well. :)

OP, I feel you. I also hate when an item is listed as "as new" and then it's followed up with "except for some small tears in the tolex or dings or scratches".

I also hate when they post a picture of say, a Mesa cab or amp, it's been gigged obviously, for a number of years and shows the wear. But they put the "hang tags" back on it and say "still has the tags on it!!!". I've seen that too.

I'd rather deal with shipping to people. I've been using eBay, Paypal, UPS and FedEx for years and never had any issues.
