Cusack Screamer or Carl Martin Plexi Tone!

a PlexiTone will not tighten up the bottom end of a cooking amplifier. You need something that actually cuts out bass, a Cusack Screamer would work, an SD-1,OD-1, TS-9 as well until you start buying them with mods to have more bass. The PlexiTone has a ton of bottom end as well as gain, that was my only beef with it or else it was voiced very much like an old Plexi. I had two of them years ago and spent a lot of time with them, it is not a new product. Most modern built pedals have way too much bass IMO, that goes for many amps and pickups as well.

Agreed.

I think my "predicament" (love that word :P ) is that I don't want an increase in bass but I also don't want all mid and treb. I've got the bad monkey to do the mid hump, i really just want to tighten my SL+ module. I modded it slightly to get that Soldano vibe so for me the mid is prominent enough. Just want it tightened. Reading more about clean boosts, i think as the gain goes up, so does the bass so not sure I want one of those. I just got home so about to try my RC in the loop instead of on the floor. On board preamp might be interesting too, i had not thought of that!

I know everyone's all about the TS808. I actually prefer the TS9. Mines an older one (83). The bad Monkey and that pedal sound similar but the TS9 just has that little something extra that I like. Hard to explain but noticably better.
