I am thinking about getting the clean channel done on my rev blue uber to make it more useable "nicer cleans". Any of you guys had this done and did it make a big difference?

Thanks Greg ( H&H )

i don't know anything about the mod, but i found that using a really bright preamp tube in the position (v4, IIRC) that is for the clean channel really perked it up, made the sound crisper and more shimmery.

i used a Tung-Sol reissue, which is also high-gain, and that gave me a bit of a "pushed" clean tone, sorta SRV, when i turned the clean Gain up a bit.

I'm running the Tung Sol RI in V1 and the JJ ECC803S in V4 and really like that combination for the clean channel, blows the Chinese tubes out the water by a long shot.

I have the Cameron Mod'd Uber Rev Blue. The clean is suppose to be a Shiva clean and it is sparkly clean. I havent played a Shiva so I cant really compare it (Yet   ). I luv how I can have the pure clean ch and then jump into a Alice in chains sound.

I do know the clean on my Uber is brighter than the warm clean on my 20th Ecstasy. I dont know If I like one better than the other but if I played out I would take the uber.

neat. i haven't tried the T-S RI in v1 on an Uber (it was too bright in v1 of my Mark V), but i plan to. and in v2-3.

i've read that the JJ 803s can be microphonic--so running it in a clean channel tube position would mean that's not an issue. have you tried the 803 in a gain tube position? how did it sound, and/or was it microphonic?

I tried a couple of different tubes in the V2/V3 positions, but found I liked the 9th gen Chinese tubes the best.

i just tried the T-S RI in v1 and v4, and the clean sounds were really good--very bright and shimmery.

i swapped a Mullard RI into v1 and the gain sounds were thicker in the midrange and a bit less raspy--the same change as on my Mk V but not as stark. but the clean sounds were way less shimmery. :(

i have JJs in there now, but i've got a bunch of the Chinese ones, so i'll give them a shot too.
