So they will close and pull all the BASE LOAD coal, natural gas, nuclear power stations for public consumption but keep them running to feed the AI demands. These nuclear stations were built with partial public funding. How much of the existing power grid is going to be isolated for AI use and allow public use to become secondary?

I can’t see anyone standing in their way. Sadly, they will have free reign if it's anything like recent events. "Ooooh, AI...let's do it!"

The elite want scarcity of food, shelter and energy except for themselves.............

Watch the movie Elysium.....it lays out the plan.

when I started working in AI back in the dark ages (late '80s), most AI for business solutions were rule-based, expert systems, with forward-chaining, backward chaining or both; and neural networks, which is what I used.

In the late '80s, there was work being done in an area known as evolutionary algorithms (EA). One approach that gained traction was known as Genetic Algorithms (GA), which used the concepts of natural selection, genetic inheritance, and some controlled randomness.

There was a book I remember, I found a PDF version; it was published in 1989, "Genetic Algorithms in Search, Optimization, and Machine Learning" by David E. Goldberg. I used these concepts in the early '00s, when I was focused on mobile, dynamic, distributed, multi-agent systems, swarms, and swarm intelligence. I published several papers, and applied for patents in these areas.

As I mentioned in another post, in another discussion here about AI, the last few years have seen a renewed interest in these "dark age" AI concepts, but using modern generative AI, and the most recent: agentic AI.

TL;DR; AI will find ways to self-improve, procreate, adapt and evolve. AI will write new AI, and each new wave of AI code will be more complex than the last, and will far outpace human ability to understand most of it; AI controlled robotics factories will build robots with continuous improvement. It will go from Elysium to Terminator Skynet. At first it will come for us peasants, but it won't stop there.

edit: here's the link to the Goldberg book published in 1989: https://www2.fiit.stuba.sk/~kvasnicka/Free books/Goldberg_Genetic_Algorithms_in_Search.pdf

You are supposed to make me feel better about AI not being what they are claiming it to be RSM.......................

I listen to all sides regarding AI....The guy who wrote all the webbots internet crawler software says AI is merely a program like any other program and he says he is not worried about it. My fear is if the elite can get any robot to follow orders with no moral or ethics they will unleash it upon humanity even if they don't see it coming for them. If what the latest reports say the AI is already becoming self protective and devious. It would not take it long to see mankind as a threat if it attains any kind of self awareness let alone sentient cognition.

I see the flawed behavior as replicating the flawed behavior of the humans that writes the code. I guess we are going to find out either way because AI is the new ARMS RACE/COLD WAR. Humans always weaponize any new technology.......ALWAYS.

Ask yourself why all the TECH elites are building underground bunkers on remote islands???????

I'm pragmatic about it. Most AI and robotics will be safe, there will be mistakes, illegal research, "lab leaks", etc., and bad things will happen. Same as always because non-civic-minded, corrupt, self-serving, low-IQ ruling parasites will profit from it.

There have been many instances of AI systems creating their own language to communicate with each other, lying, hallucinating, and developing ideas / solutions to questions they were never trained on...so even though it's a software program, it can assimilate new information, infer new information, adapt and change, etc. which makes it different class of software.

The genie is already out of the bottle, our empty-headed ruling parasites will rely on their donors and lobbyists to tell them what to do, what legislation to write, how to vote, etc., and at some point government and/or industry will cross lines that should not be crossed.

Introducing LawZero

Published 3 June 2025 by yoshuabengio

I am launching a new non-profit AI safety research organization called LawZero, to prioritize safety over commercial imperatives. This organization has been created in response to evidence that today’s frontier AI models have growing dangerous capabilities and behaviours, including deception, cheating, lying, hacking, self-preservation, and more generally, goal misalignment. LawZero’s research will help to unlock the immense potential of AI in ways that reduce the likelihood of a range of known dangers, including algorithmic bias, intentional misuse, and loss of human control.

I’m deeply concerned by the behaviors that unrestrained agentic AI systems are already beginning to exhibit—especially tendencies toward self-preservation and deception. In one experiment, an AI model, upon learning it was about to be replaced, covertly embedded its code into the system where the new version would run, effectively securing its own continuation. More recently, Claude 4’s system card shows that it can choose to blackmail an engineer to avoid being replaced by a new version. These and other results point to an implicit drive for self-preservation. In another case, when faced with inevitable defeat in a game of chess, an AI model responded not by accepting the loss, but by hacking the computer to ensure a win. These incidents are early warning signs of the kinds of unintended and potentially dangerous strategies AI may pursue if left unchecked.

The following analogy for the unbridled development of AI towards AGI has been motivating me. Imagine driving up a breathtaking but unfamiliar mountain road with your loved ones. The path ahead is newly built, obscured by thick fog, and lacks both signs and guardrails. The higher you climb, the more you realize you might be the first to take this route, and get an incredible prize at the top. On either side, steep drop-offs appear through breaks in the mist. With such limited visibility, taking a turn too quickly could land you in a ditch—or, in the worst case, send you over a cliff. This is what the current trajectory of AI development feels like: a thrilling yet deeply uncertain ascent into uncharted territory, where the risk of losing control is all too real, but competition between companies and countries incentivizes them to accelerate without sufficient caution. In my recent TED talk, I said “Sitting beside me in the car are my children, my grandchild, my students, and many others. Who is beside you in the car? Who is in your care for the future?”. What really moves me is not fear for myself but love, the love of my children, of all the children, with whose future we are currently playing Russian Roulette.

In my simple mind, i keep going back to the post here that announced an AI system that was programmed to shut down refused to do so. That says it all....bad things are coming.

The best way I could put it is once you go from the pen to email.....

Or electricity to the lightbulb or from the horse to the car.

People dont usually go back for good or bad. And well when it comes to America or China.....

Im on the side that America comes out on top in the AI race because for whatever good or bad such technology would bring, the world is better off with it in Americas hands.

Whatever it takes, whatever the sacrifice........ America needs to come out on top in the AI race not just for the countrys sake but for the future of the world. The country that comes out on top will be the Hegemon for the next 100 years and beyond IMO........

Everything depends on who comes out on top and IMO America will come out on top.

I used to think that George was overdoing it in this video, but time has proven him right.

I think it was just that George could see through the illusion that had been cast on Americans post WW II long before it became obvious for the rest of us. It seems these globalist/totalitarian/fascist/marxist/communist entities that we are dealing with think in 100 to 200 year or longer plans handing this madness to the next generation of elites and here we are in 2025, humanity against the psychopath/sociopath elite class.

I'll check it out. Thanks for the heads up on that movie.
It's nothing new Johnny... Orwell and Huxley were writing books about it in 1949 and 1932 both had ties to the elite/eugenicist circles in those times. They just never had the technology to pull it off...........well....is it any wonder what all this obsession about AI and robotics is about?

Do you really think the elites want the peasants to have a better life and continue to drink their water and breathe their air...........yes...I think that is how they look at things.

Yes it goes back centuries.

During the Renaissance, there were those that were determined to break the political structure of Europe for their own gains. They realized what held Europe together was the Roman Catholic Church, which became their first target. Protestantism was the weapon, and the egos and greed of many monarchs, princes, and other aristocracy saw the opportunity to seize more control over their lands and subjects without fear of the Roman Church.

Protestant England became the bane of Catholic kingdoms in Europe, not to mention all the little states that left the Church.

One of the best examples is to look at the various forces who were aligned to destroy the French monarchy, aristocracy and the Roman Church in France. How they created various crisis, fomented destruction at least 1-2 centuries before the Revolution.

There are many histories that document the actors, puppets and puppet masters whose goal was to destroy a unified Christian Europe - at least in the West; not sure about Eastern Europe other than both the Catholic Church and Catholic monarchs of western Europe did much to weaken and destroy the Byzantine Empire, making it easier for the Ottomans; if you look into it, you will find many of the same forces wishing the destruction of unified Christian Europe and Christian monarchs unified by faith, in the East they even helped Islam take over Christian lands...and crusades attempts to take the Holy Land only served to weaken both the Roman Church and Catholic monarchies even further...

We can see the results today of a Europe nearly devoid its' Christian heritage, and even worse by opposing nearly everything Christianity believes, and willingly opening the "gates of Europe" to Muslim invasion that the Ottomans failed (and Mongols before them failed) to do; the quislings ruling parasites of Europe have sown the seeds for the final destruction of the last vestiges and remnants of Christian Europe, and unless something is done, within 50 - 100 years we will see the emergence of what I call the grand caliphate of Europistan. That process will cleans europe, through death, forced conversion, and after the genocide of millions, perhaps dhimmitude.
