Ok actually this clip is a 2203 clone, a metropoulos built 2203 but it smokes the 78 and 79 JMP 2204's I have so they don't get played

Power Station is a little pricey but a must have imo if you wanna crank these amps as well as Plexi's without doing damage to your hearing.

No boost needed when you crank these beasts, at least for what level of gain I'm looking for
Volume 4 oclock and pregain at 2 oclock.
Playing is super rusty and have not played much this summer, a bunch of wanking but I think this clip does the amp justice.

To be honest, you can get even more gain when you get to 8 on MV and 8 on preamp but it can get mushy. I still prefer a little push over the top for leads but I run my home built ( also sounds better than my Marshall) with MV at 7 and preamp at 7 with presence, treb , mid up and bass rolled back a bit and they sound incredible. That's my sound. I know if I buy a 3 k amp, I will still go back to it. On my board, original koko boost and a bad monkey.Oh, and I use a hot plate which works just fine for me. Sucks at really low volumes though.

Yeah I can get more gain out of it for sure but I loose some tightness and percusiveness and it gets congested. This is all I need for gain. I love it. I've got several other attenuators here (tone king ironman and Alex) and none of them will do the low volume like the powerstation, it's leaps and bounds better even at moderate volumes.

Sounds fantastic! What speakers did you use in the clip?

Thanks! Sumback M75 25 watt loaded in a Splawn straight 4x12.

Sounds killer!

Thanks, I just listened to the clip on my phone and it sounds pretty shitty...but sounds great on my cheap labtop

I think the Fryette might also be imparting some colour and crunch there. Are 6L6 not crunchier and bite? I agree with everything you say though. I dial back my preamp and master for the same reason, tightness. Might have to check out one of these as the price drops. I also like that you can put whatever preamp through it.

That sounds great on my lap top here at work. I need to check it out at home through my studio monitors. I love the percussiveness when you palm mute while soloing. That is VERY hard to get the right tone for IMO.

That's what you get when you don't have an amp thats all preamped out... low gain thud vs smoothed out compression.

I just listened at home... KILLER TONE!!!!!!!!!

It sounds quite a bit like a Super Lead when you open it up like that. I really dig it.

It's as good a tone at reasonable volumes as I've ever achieved. I agree about the super lead comment as it does sound very close to the Metropoulos 12,000 Plexi below it but sounds more aggressive, a little gainier and less chirp although with some lower output paf type pickups in my LP's it has more of the chirp. This clip was suhr strat with an SSH+ I think it is called, by far the highest output of all my guitars at 17K or so. Noticeably brighter than the purple amp as well but in a pleasing way.

sounds great dude! seriously thinking about the Powerstation to replace my Ultimate Attenuator.

Yeah Darren, me too. I am sitting on the Fryette site right now trying to talk myself out of hitting Buy.

love that tone...curious, and may have just read over it, but did you mic the cab? I'm assuming it was since your volume was cranked a bit.

No mic, just a zoom Q3HD vid cam.

So that being part of the beauty of the power station (I guess)....crank it, attenuate it, and then regular (non-studio type) mics pick it up. (?), and your ears aren't left in a bloody mess.
