For one listen, (and this is just an opinion and I've never heard the song you played) it seemed kinda of thin until about the last 6 secs or so. The tone sounded good, but I think it'd get lost in a mix.

Great thrash tone, though.

I think it sounded good.
Not sure of the song you were playing since I never heard it. I would like to hear some more "open/Hanging" chords with that amp. Some slow chug stuff. The thrash sounded really tight though.

I thought it sounded ok. Not something I'd use in a mix, and sounded really scooped

It sounded good to me, but in the mix it could be a problem.

it sounded ok but i have heard better tones and clips from you.
now after saying that i think that amp could be very special if you spend some more time with it, you have the tools and the ability to make great clips.

I did not like it at all. Just being totally honest. It was very fizzy and thin, IMO. Sounded like a distortion pedal.

Jeez Dan. It's off MEtallica's last album. Ya know the one everyone loved, Death Magnetic?

As far as the clip. It was a bit fuzzy on my end but still good. Your SE sounds much meaner I bet? :dunno:

Now that the honeymoon is over with this amp how does it rank with your other amps?

I was very surprised that this was a Hagen...I haven't heard a Hagen clip that I totally love yet. I like the Herbert much better. This being said, I have not played a Hagen so I can not say if it is great or crappy, just that I am not a fan of this particular clip. :)

I am going to be honest, that sounds pretty terrible. Very shrill. I also don't understand why you are using an SD-1 with that amp.

Thanks for the opinions everyone. The boosting was an experiment and I definitely scooped it. I was going for bright and tight. This amp can do looser thicker and muuuuch darker.

nice and tight, but too much scoop to cut through a mix.

then again....... sometimes the great tones you find and love suck on a record. and the weird tones that sound terrible on their own are just what the record needed to fill out. wtf. go figure.

i hear everyone say there aren't any good Hagen clips. i thought Reza did a pretty darn good clip. good talking, good playing, good tones. if you need more than that, just buy the amp and try it yourself

I like the core of the sound, but pretty thin, needs some bottom end as well as some body and dimension.. maybe a mic a bit further off blended in to give it larger space...

Just got a Hagen, it's not good with that dirt box in front, add some mids and loose the crappy pedal. It was terrible. Mic type?, placement ? Cab? Into what mixer? Eq'ing offer the end?
But I still luv u. Please do again
