Helloooo!
Long time no post, hope everyone is well.

Here's a clip comparing the JMP-1 against the VH4's preamp.

Thought this might be helpful for someone out there.

First half of the clip is 1 combination, the 2nd half is the other combination.
JMP-1 with VH4 power amp
VH4 head by itself

I didn't expect them to be so similar.

The VH4 by itself sounds more full. Maybe a bit more gain too. But I agree, pretty close.

Thanks for checking it out and the feedback :)

Agree, the VH4 by itself has a slightly more '3D' thing going on.

Marshall can definitely hold it's own though.

Shows that some of these classics like the JMP-1 can hang with the boutique stuff.
(granted i did use a VH4 poweramp with the JMP-1).

In a full band mix, the difference would be even less I'd guess

The Diezel power amps tend to take over anything you plug into them :)
I had a D-moll, and hooked up my Engl 530 to the serial fx return.
It never sounded so brutal. Especially the depth control can work wonders. The 530 is fairly easy on the low end. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, but when I plugged it into the Diezel, it opened up some new doors.

That sounds great mate!
Agree I've never heard a 530 sound that good.

yes I think there's something special on the Diezel's power amps.
Would be keen to A/B against some other power amps to test
