I think your lead tone is really cool, but your rhythm tone sounds distant. I'm thinking this is your Reavalver software. I still listen to that one track you did with Revalver that had monster rhythm tone.

And I hear you about never finishing up ideas. Once I had kids, it made me want to finish some of my unfinished things up and do a decent CD so one day they would have something that I played on. That's why I called my CD "For Some Time Now" because it was done over the course of a few years.

I'm so freaking lazy about stuff like this. I always intend to work on music after the family goes to sleep and sometimes do, but more often than not, I'll end up playing Call of Duty on the XBox and then berating myself when I go to sleep for being so lazy.

Believe it or not, that's a real 6505+ with no boost. Some of it could just be my mixing or whatever. But yeah I haven't been using Revalver because I need a new PC and it's a resource hog. I can only realistically do 3 tracks. Once you work Superior Drummer in there you run out of processing power real fast. I did look into cab impulses which I think I may go with as well...

Have you checked out the Sneap forum? The clips that those guys create using a PODxt and some cab impulses is insane! I feel like an ass for having all this gear and here they are cranking out pro-quality clips with a freaking POD... Makes me want to sell everything and just do that.

Glad you dig the playing. I think I found why it sounds distant... It may have been the eq I added to make the lead seem a bit louder. That's what happens when you sit there for too long trying to mix stuff...

Thanks man! Glad you liked it. The lead kind of fell together nicely. Didn't need to do a bunch of takes. The stars aligned... LOL!

It's hard to get a bad sound out of that amp unless you really use extreme settings.

For this,
I used the following settings:
Lead Channel:
Pre 7
Bass 5
Mid 3.5
Treble 5
Post 1
Resonance 5
Presence 6

The cab is a Splawn 4x12 loaded with Splawn SB25s
The guitar is an Ibanez uv7Bk with stock Blazes
Mic is an SM57.

Fx are done in cubase. Some delay a hint of chorus to give it width and that's it.
