I have a wizard MCII and I just wish the cleans were more to my liking! That would make it perfect. Any suggestions. I was thinking an eq for the clean channel may do the trick

Hey Chris, try playing around with the preamp tube in V2...At least in my 2016 MTL, preamp V2 tube was assigned to the rhythm channel only, And I could change the tone / chime of the rhythm channel by changing this tube…
I am not 100% sure, but I do think the basic preamp tube layout Is the same MTL / MCII
I guess someone will chime in and let us know if I’m wrong, but it did work like a charm with the MTL

Great amps but tuned to Z they both sound the same

Sounded more like a Y flat to me ;)

I like the Wizard between the two. More definition.

Seems like these 2 amps get compared a lot so I did a quick comparison clip. Just some random jams, excuse my shitty playing.
My ears said: The Wizard is the clear winner of the comparison.
The Wizard does have more clarity, attack and bounce, while the SLO is sounding slightly muffling and diffuse.
Maybe hard words against the SLO and maybe the SLO sound can be upgraded by choosing 'the right tubes'?

I've compared my 2018 MC2 & MTL to a 2018 SLO side by side over several days... the Wizards were far and above the better sounding amps for my taste. Not even close for me. The tightness, articulation, focus, and faster response/feel put the Wizards in another class alone, just based on lead channel vs lead channel. The Wizards also do not fall apart or change in tone or bottom end, regardless of volume. Not the same from the SLO. The clean channel comparison was a landslide in favor of the Wizards as well.

What he said, ;)
I agree but to a lesser degree of difference..I would put the MCI at #1 and the SLO at 1B when it comes to clarity and articulation, clean channel etc. Wizard wins but the SLO is incredible as well.
Mark 2C+ has the best clean of any high gain amp I've played. And it's not even close.

I agree about the 2C+ cleans, but I think the cleans of my 2016 Wizard MTL 100 aren’t far behind. If non-high gain amps were included I’d put my 64 Vibroverb and Todd Sharp JOAT 45 ahead of the 2C+ for cleans, but that’d be it of everything I’ve tried

Out of curiosity, have you owned a SLO and one your Wizards at the same time to compare? I ask because my experience comparing the 2 was pretty much the same as what Wizard of Ozz described

The cleans on the 2017 MCII I have are right up there with the Germino club 40 I had; beautiful. The lead channel with boost pulled, with or without an od clean boosting the front, is pure thrash. Up the gain a bit and add a touch more drive and level from a ts9 and now your into brutal deathmetal. Move over to the rhythm ch with an LP and it's classic rock bliss. AMAZING amp that does it all!
