Good watch, for sure! John's such a down to earth, genuine guy. Been a hero of mine for years. Amazing player, and top-shelf tone, ALWAYS.

Yeah this was just plain awesome. I've never seen Ola so stoked. It was hilarious when Ola described John's lead tone as like an orgasm...I think he only marginally regretted that comment.

Ya know, I owned a JP15 briefly (below) and then sold it. I absolutely loved everything about the guitar, but the damn pickup selector was smack dab in the way. When I pick or strum my fingers tend to swing down ever so slightly, and it was just enough to hit that selector constantly when playing rhythm...leads less so. I considered training myself to have less motion when strumming, but at the end of the day it's how I like to play and the effort wasn't going to be worth the guitar. I'd imagine most can agree this thing is just in a bad spot in general:

That's a beautiful guitar but yeah I can see how that switch might interfere.

Saw DT twice, after Images and Words and then the Metropolis tour (with Dixie Dregs with Dave LaRue opening!). DT came out and played side 1 non-stop as the "first song" and then played for a really long time after that. I also wondered how the fuck does he remember all that.

haha...yeah I caught that when he described it as an orgasm. I was looking at Ola's face to see if he was thinking "why the fuck did i say that?'  You could tell the first 10 minutes Ola was blushing...He was nervous. I'd be. But I've seen videos of Petrucci touring Sweetwater and walked up to a guy tuning and doing the inspections on a musicman. Kid played some cool stuff in front of him...He just sat and talked to him, in what seemed like he woulda sat there longer.

Terminal Velocity was released today...there's some cool stuff on it. One song sounds so much like Gary Moore stuff. It's a good listen.

PS...that JP15 looks sick as fuck. I was looking at a pink JP15...looks more red. but my eyes must have passed by the location of that selector. Yeah...not a fan of it there.

yeah...I saw them twice on Images and Words...dirt cheap. In a club. Then on Train of Thought and Six degrees. Cool how he said he has to relearn stuff. Everybody does after so many years. Everyone i think assumes he can just cue it up like a spotify list and play it...nope.

That was a great interview. I've always loved how down to earth both of them are, and it must be so cool to talk to one of your biggest heroes! Lucky bastard :)

Yep, the Images and Words show was in a really small venue and wasn't even full. I was stunned that they played everything so perfectly live.

RE: Dave LaRue...I've never seen a guy come out and play, play, play trying to dial in his tone before a show that long. He had one of the best if not the best live bass tones I've ever heard and I've seen Chris Squire with Yes (another favorite bass tone). Total badass. I had seen them open for ZZ Top many years earlier but don't even remember the lineup then. Seeing both DT and DD in one night is almost sensory overload.

I will admit, I'm a I&W/Awake guy. Six degrees too. I haven't listened to their latest or the astonishing. Suppose I should grab my headphones and give those a spin
