Rick Beato interviews Ola

everyone knows i love Ola and that was a fun watch. The one thing i actually liked hearing the most was Rick saying he and other big producers just scroll through presets in plugins the same way i do lol

When will rick say....plug in's and I.R.'s.... are for the poor and lazy?
Plugins and IR’s are ancient tools that take too long and are too difficult when compared to… AI (I’m only joking…. Well kind of)

Hetfield interviews are typically pretty bad. He has trouble going off-script. I remember Rogan interrupting a hunting story to ask how bear meat tasted, and Hetfield was like "uh..... meat" (actual quote) and then continued on with his well-rehearsed story.
I actually really enjoyed that Rogan / Hetfield interview...Thought Hetfield came across as very straightforward and humble

Ola is one of the few that was able to grow his YouTube channel without “selling out” and making overly cringe click-bait adds with the “all thoughts and opinions are my own/fearless, unbiased gear reviews” disclaimers that are not genuine at all…

I’m thinking that when he hits 1 million subscribers, he will take a much needed break from the YouTube stuff. Or at least I hope he does because he has earned it, and I look forward to hearing more of his music.

A.I. is gunna wipe out all of the bedroom DAW brawlers. you can forget about making money at that level.

My studio is in an office, so I hope I’ll be okay. I get what you are saying though… like if you want to record a band and do live drums the proper way, a bigger/actual studio and tracking room setup is almost required and AI cannot ever replace that (even though it can manufacture the sound)

I was listening to Eyal Levi talk about how he got quotes to make his Daath album (without a label) and the studios were going to charge $40k in the early 2000’s. That is insane money when you factor in inflation… Now days, a band could make an album that sounds commercial for what… maybe $6K or even less, depending on how you deal with the drums? I think some more well known producers might charge upwards of $10k?

Again, taking into consideration inflation on top of costs getting less and less, it makes me think that any one of us could have had a far greater chance if you started learning and taking the audio engineering thing seriously in the mid 90’s crafted your skill set in oncoming years, and adapted with technology - up to about 2018 you could have had a 30x better odds at success and becoming profitable than you could today because that’s around the time bedroom producers started making excellent quality recordings/mixes (not factoring in the more important items like originality, creativity, etc.)

At least… this is how I talk myself out of it. The AI stuff only emphasizes a live act even more, but it’s always been about the band that plays shows, not the studio rat like myself. I need a Time Machine

Ola is friggin awesome and I enjoy watching his vids.....

Dude also has a Bad Cat Lynx, watching his vid after playing one sold me on these and for good reason. Glad I got mine on Black Friday.

Ola even bought one himself after the vid he was so impressed. Rick is okay...... And maybe I'll give him less shit because of the Ola connection. He didn't ask for a free one or a handout and he bought it like the rest of us common folk would and he straight up pulled out the money and bought it no questions asked. Even he thought and thinks they are expensive but for the tone they are well worth the money and patience to save up for one.

Real dude, real licks, real gear, real rig, real chugs..... That's the Chug Life baby

P.S. Rick if your watching....... Please more Ola Englund and less Rhett Cuck :dunno:
