Coffin Case Blood Drive

Who has got one of these? I just picked one up since they are getting blown out for like $40. I have only spent a few minutes with mine and only got to AB it against my klon. It lost pretty hard but I still need to check it out against my sd-1 and cheaper ODs. I would say it is worth it for $40.

They are made by MXR and I think john 5 had something to do with them. Anyone have any recommendations for how to use it? Stacking? I have only used it as a boost so far.

Put it up against my MIJ SD-1. It has a bit more drive and volume available. It seems to retain the bass a bit more and doesn't have as much of the focused mid bump of the sd-1. It is a good alternative to OD pedals under 100, and pretty hard to beat at $40.

Haha, I ended up working one up to a 100 dollar order to get free shipping. Not a bad pedal for the price.

Got my blood drive today. Not bad at all. Pros out weigh the cons. Worked great as an OD boost with my Mark III. Liked it better than my OD808. Here's what I thought....
+1 Lots of output.
+2 Fairly transparent.
+3 Tone control works well.
+4 The lowend roll off is just enough for my taste. Tight but not thin.
+5 Cheap $45 shipped to my door.
+6 Sounds as good as units 3x's its price
+7 Looks cool. It has a skull and its shaped like a coffin
+8 Made in the USA
+9 A lot of gain - not as much as my Barber DD.

-1 Surface mount components
-2 Was unable to bump my Barber.
-3 Arived with a broken battery latch.


Easily worth the money. I recommend it.

I got one a few years back used. okay for a boost but replaced it with mxr distortion III. collecting dust in the garage.

Yeah mine will probably collect dust too. I figured as much , but i just had to have it My Barber DD is much better IMO. And I have a clean boost pedal I built that handles the light boosting duty for me. But its not bad for $40. Sounded better than most of my ODs.

Just checked MF. The price is back up to $119 Think that $40 was a mistake? Glad I got in on it.
