well guys...seems that i landed myself a bunch of gigs @ a Casino here in town...and my Diezel & 4X12 arent welcome on the stage the size of my bed   SOOO...i need to get myself a combo of some sorts. Heres what i was looking @. any advise would be great. Playing mostly rock/hard rock covers...no brootz! Would like a big sounding amp (nice low end great crunch channel..) something that i wont need to dime to get it to sound great.

Bogner Shiva Combo
Splawn Streetrod
Diezel Einstein Combo
Fender Twin w/ pedals

let the games begin!!!!

The Einstein is without a doubt the best combo I've heard. It sounds awesome at super low levels.
Only issue I had with it was that you couldn't get Mode 1 and 3 on channel one but there are mods around that.
Meaning you can't get the clean and Marshall tone without the footswitch mods then there is a volume difference between the two since they share the same controls.

Other than that the Einstein is it! Stay away from JVM's...noisy and potential for quality issues from my experience.

Definitely agree that the Einstein is a great sounding combo but I thought that the JVM was fantastic as well....

Mesa Electra Dyne with pedals. For low end balls it blew the Einstein away when i played them next to eachother, although you could play the Einstein without pedals and the Electra Dyne needs to be really loud to sound great.

But one thing to think about, does a combo really take up that much less floor space than a 4x12?

$1600 has a scumback 75/65.. if the link doesnt play a vid go to my youtube channel for tones

JVM I had was pretty noisy, especially with a pedal. May not have been the amps fault entirely.
Footswitch kept malfunctioning too. There's a huge difference in price b/w the two as well as the Einstein is a bit pricey.
Might get one used in the low 2's.

I would say danyeo is right in that the Mesa probably has more low end. Einstein is more Marshally...just wish it was a true 3 or 4 channel amp.

why not get a 2x12 cab? Not much size difference over a combo...

I love the Shiva combo myself. How about a Mark IV combo?

The coolest thing about the Shiva to me was how well it sat in a mix...I never worried about being heard when I had mine (6L6 2x12 version). You can pick them up used fairly easily and move on to something else without taking a loss if you don't like it.

I have a Mark IV combo and it kills. Not that much low end with the 1x12 speaker, though, but perhaps that's how I dial it in. It's currently my go-to thrash amp (even above the Herbert!), but has great classic rock tone too and takes pedals very well.

The Einstein can get a better tone at much lower volume than the Shiva. Always felt like the Shiva was a cross b/w a plexi and 800...had to be cranked to sound it's best.
The Einstein sounds awesome really low. It has a shitload of gain too..way more than the Shiva.

i tried a 2X12 cab this weekend on stage & it didnt matter. The real issue is cranking the amp. My VH4 to me sounds best cranked a bit...not on 1. So i guess i need something lower wattage where i can give it a lil gusto. Plus my rig took a cart to get into the gig...would like something more portable too.

Einstein rocks without cranking better than any amp I've heard.

i may have to look more into the Eini combo. if its less compressed than my VH4 may be a great option. Thats why i looked into Bogner & Splawn. hmmm

Pauly snag the streetrod in the classifieds, you like the spalwn tone.

A shiva combo IMO has to be jacked up loud to sound good. Einy Ch2 is a bit compressed, never played a VH4 so not sure how it compares.
Unless you get the 20th Anniv Shiva you will probably have to use a pedal to get it anywhere near the Einstein's gain.

Einstein is a great amp but having owned both, I'd say you'll need more or less the same amount of volume thatn the Vh4 to make it cook. I loved the way both sounded at reasonable volumes though, no need to be cranked IMO.

Think about the Egnater line btw.... they're CHEAP sound GREAT.

You can try the Renegade which IMO sounds VERY good.

I don't have good high gain clips/videos of my Renegade but check out FasRedPony's clips...they're amazing for that genre

Hughes & Kettner Switchblade (either 1 x 12 or 2 x 12).
