I got asked to play a couple of songs with my old band for their 25th Anniversary show. I just picked up a Kemper Powered Rack a few weeks ago. I thought great, I will get to check out how the Kemper performs live. I've run it in a band mix a couple times, DI through a cab and was quite impressed. Anyway, the night of the show I get up on stage and set up to run a DI profile through a Mesa cab that was miced. That's the way I left it set up as the band was going to play 9-10 songs before I came up. The time comes for me to get up on a stage and we run through the two songs and I get off, as they were going to play 10 more songs or so. I got off stage and got a few nice compliments and I think cool. The stage volume was quite loud so I wasn't sure of how the house sound was. Anyways, the show ends and I start to unload my gear and I notice the sound guy plugged an XLR out to the house! I was like WTF!!! There was nooooo cab assigned to the XLR! I got a sick feeling in my gut! But, what are you going to do. I said the heck with it!
Well, here is a video and I can clearly hear the tone at the beginning of the song was total Sh?t! It seems he may have brought more of the miced cab into the mix further into the song. I can't tell as the other guitarist was playing through a Mark IV with tons of Chorus.
As far as the playing it was a bit uncontrolled as this band plays a half step down and I didn't change the gauge of strings on the guitar so it was a bit sloppy. Oh well I did have great time!
