I used a Shure Beta 52 on the kick, two CAD TSM411s on the snare (top and bottom), Audix D2s on the rack toms, Audix D4 on the floor toms, a Shure SM81 on the hats, Oktava MK-012 on the ride, sE Electronics 4400a overhead mics (matched pair), and sE Electronics VR1 ribbon mics in the room. I always used spaced pair for the OH arrangement, because it's always worked for me. I have some massive studio booms that'll hold up LDCs, so they are up 7-8 feet, equidistant from the snare. The room mics are also out between 1/2 and 2/3 through the room equidistant from the kit. It's a pretty big basement, with GOBOs behind the kit to kill the back wall, and lots of gear and furniture to kill reverb. I only really get a reflection from the wall farthest from the kit, which I'm fine with.they really are all the samewhat kind of drum mics and set up you using??
I really like the sE 4400as as overheads. They are like AKG 414s, but kinda somewhere in between all the variants. They are a little darker that most SDCs, but they make the cymbals more mellow and less sibilant.
