I rock my EVM-12L's in an x pattern with the speakers that came in my Vader cab(Eminence Legend modeling 12's). Those speakers are now OEM and not available to the public, but the Legend V128's are supposed to be really similar. The legends add a percussive sound to your pick attack that the EV's don't quite have, especially on palm mutes. They also smooth out the tone a bit, 'cause the EV's are sort of high mid oriented and bitey, the Legends add some low mids and an overall darker tone.
What EVM 12L's do you have? I have the black labels and some older 300 watters with the gold label. The old ones have way fatter mids & low mids, where as the black labels are more crystal clear with more high mids & highs.
I run the 12ls with the EVM SROs. Pretty friggin' amazing. I can't imagine ever using any other speakers. And since I can't blow them up I'm set for life.
Well after much agony & consideration I finally made up my mind & bought a Weber Ceramic Blue Dog lightly doped for my Mesa Express. About a 2 week wait for it to be built & shipped. Can't wait! Thanks for all your suggestions & help guys.
Will the efficiency of the Blue Dog hang with the 12l? the 12l is a loud sumna. I forgot what the George was. It was a great speaker though. Guy I sold it to was blown away.
I just did an overhaul on my cab. It's got VIN30's and EVM12L's. Sounds great, weighs a ton. I also replaced the black grill with check, and installed steel handles. Here's pics before I wired it:
