Was reading GW issue with EVH......Jeff Kendrick from Devil Driver has his rig on the second last page. Anyway noticed he's using a Maxon compressor in the loop of his Triple Recto. Just wondering what benefit it would give him there? I mean....I've used compressors in the past in the front of some amps and it sounded good.....never tried one in the loop......and he's in Devil Driver so it's gotta be for high gain since that's all they pretty much do....heavy stuff you know..

I've only ever used a compressor thru the front end
of the amp...it could be a stomp box type to the input
of the amp,or a rack unit that gets routed thru the
switching system in rack system.....But,hey, it never
hurts to try something new and see what you get.......

For really heavy, huge sounding tones I think it would be terrible. For tight, smaller super gainey sounds it could work but I think it would have to be used extremely low in the loop.

I have run a rack compressor in the look of my bass amp, but for guitar, I when I use a compressor pedal I use it out front. I always read, pedal out front, rack compressor in loop....
