I had a probe break, he is giving me two for one price. Immediately emailed me when I had a question.

hard to find service like that.

i worked on an amplifier where someone tried to bias their amplifier with one of those.

it went deffective and thus caused a bias runaway to open a safety diode that saved the transformer of the unit. i replaced the diode, biased the amplifier, and the guy used the probe again to check my bias and it did the same thing.

he bought his from eurotubes.

after scratching my head on the amplifier for almost 2 weeks i finally figured out it was his bias probe he was using, the plug in section itself had fucked up.

i wholeheartedly disagree with recommending such units to anyone.

its not the units themselves or the volt-meters you plug them into. its the construction techniques of the pin connectors.

since mV = mA current ratings when measuring voltage across a 1ohm resistor, its a common sense modification that doesnt rob tone and is worthy of doing.

however, fortin's got a cool circuit he made for measuring current without breaking the circuit physically. my next goal project for my amplifier is to do the same thing. its a little tricky though. but yeah save your money and the risk guys... if it wasnt for the reversed biased zener's in that amplifier it would have been byebye power transformer.

reasonable price. i'm still scared of tube amps. i'll take 'um too the pros let them do it. ;)

I use the 1ohm res. as well in all my builds. I still want to know the exact wattage so I can know what does what tone wise. Ive biased close to a hundred amps now with this meter and basically all I was pointing out was his customer service. Above and beyond what the normal business person does. If the weak link is the plug then hopefully he'll redesign it.

thats cool. yeah each builder has their own preferences, nothing wrong there at all

I have a weber bias rite with the 4 socket option that gives plate voltage and cathode current, had it for 5 years or so, thing kicks butt. I like it because you don't have to get so up close and personal. I don't mind messing around in an amp a little bit but it's just good to not have to everytime you bias. It's accurate, I've rechecked the plate voltage the regular way and the probe gave the same numbers.

I have had my compu-bias for two years, luckily no problems.
