That’s probably not the best description… Just heard that my ex has cancer. Seems that it’s highly “curable”, but it stirs some strange feelings. We divorced nearly 20 years ago, and she is estranged from our daughter (long story) but it still hits a note. Spoke with my daughter and she seems “OK” but we’ll see how this plays out…

There are many people I consider to belong to "chapters" of my life, and some chapters are closed and I don't intend to revisit them. I don't wish them harm or anything really, I simply don't think about them. Have no idea if they are alive or dead.

But an ex-wife I shared a child with couldn't be one of them. It's worth reaching out under these circumstances IMO (that's a general statement, I don't know the specific relationship in this case).
