Consensus on the Marshall 6100 heads?

I had the blue EL34 version head and cab. Great Amp, as Carl says, way ahead of its time. I also had the LM combo - it was ok, but the EL34 version is the one.

I boosted channel 3 and its the closest Marshall ever gets to being Boogie-like. The cleans are nice and warm and channel 2 is the really versatile channel. The mid shift thing is ass, so forget about using that. I also didnt use the comp switches - they sucked low end, and removed shimmer from my cleans.

IMO ch1 and ch2 were awesome, ch3 sucked. Had Mike's "LM" version (tried EL34s).
Sold it after one week (shortest period of an amp in my arsenal ever ).
I like the JVM much better in all areas, didn't do a direct comparison though, just from remembering the 6100.

One of the best Marshall channel switchers going IMHO, I had the EL34 versions, didn't like the LM 6L6 version. Downside is reliablility and parts are almost non exsistant for these amps. My 2 cents

Here is a blue EL34 one for a great starting bid. The seller is a Rig Talker and I can definitely say he is a great person to deal with. I have also played this one and it is in excellent shape and sounds sweet. Channel 2 is amazing...
