So, what are some of the guitar solos from the 80's and 90's (we can take on other decades as well...these seemed like a good place to start) that you guys dig the most? They don't have to be technically brilliant or done by an A-list shredder...just something that sounds cool and serves the song. For example, if we were doing 70's I'd have "Hot Blooded" toward the top of my list...sloppy as hell but played with a ton of attitude.

Here are a few that come to mind for me...I'm sure I'll think of a bunch more:

And even a nod to CC for this one:

Oh man, SOOOO many...

Crying in the the rain - Whitesnake
Living the hard way - racer X
Hold On Loosely - 38 special
Shapes of Things - Gary Moore
Far Beyond The Sun- YJM
Back for more, the morning after - Ratt

So many more...

Too many to remember. Off of the top of my head:

Mr. Crowley
For The Love of God
Tender Surrender

Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits
Travels of Marco Polo - Steve Morse
La Villa Strangiato
Eruption

And the most attitude in a very simple song IMO...

Nutshell by Cantrell. AIC has such great tone and vibe. That one is a masterpiece.

I actually meant to post that one...was in a hurry to get to lunch and left it off...great call!
One of my all time favorite guitar tones as well.

Lynch - Turn On The Action

Jake E Lee - Bark At The Moon

Vito Bratta - most of his solo's.....

Brad Gillis & Jeff Watson - Don't Tell Me You Love Me & Sister Christian

.....Man, this is tough!!! :D

+1. I agree with Fluff too. Jerry can craft a solo.

Wow... some truly AWESOME and memorable mentions already (glad Ronnie Le Tekro's "Seven Seas" was mentioned!)

Whitesnake - Still of the Night

DLR - Big Trouble

Pat Benetar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Foreigner - Juke Box Hero

Yngwie - As Above, So Below

Journey - Edge of the Blade

Autograph - Turn Up the Radio

I could go on and on...
