This is what I use. It comes in thin, medium & thick viscosities. For CA glue it is a little expensive, but it makes a strong bond and has a long shelf life as long as the bottle is sealed properly. I have an open bottle in my shop that about a year old and still good.

Not sure what my other bottle in the shop is, but it's been open for more than a year and still good. Unreal that I finally opened the Gorilla package and it was set up hard.
It comes down to whether or not there was a tiny gap in the seal somewhere.
Could've happened during the manufacturing / packing process or of course in the case where a bottle has already been opened, the re-seal integrity.
Cheap superglues are notorious for the re-seal thing 'cause of the cheap packaging, but I've also found that brand-new ones are often hard before I even open them. I've bought packets of 12 where some if not most were already-set.
