Couple amp demos I made - Mark IV and 2555x

I’ve always liked “in the room” playthroughs and iPhone clips so I tried making a higher quality version with a condenser mic picking up the room sound (amps into a Marshall 412 and Mesa 212) and also blended in an SM57 for some focus and clarity.

I was happy with how they turned out so I thought I’d share

Edit -
Added the Tremoverb. Same format.
I wasn’t really trying to recreate any specific tones, just playing whatever came to mind.

100 watt Jube would do it for me. I liked my MRak IV but was kinda one trick pony but would shake the earth.
Id need that Jube between 4 & 6 on the master.

I can tell you love playing the mark IVB much more! What a total riff machine. That has to be right up there with one of the best mark IV clips I’ve ever heard - many of them I don’t like for some reason. Only other one I can think of that sounded as good was one that @RedB4Black had cranked during an amp comparison a while back.

Thanks Matt!
I wouldn’t say I enjoy playing it more, it’s more like the fast response brings a lot out of me. Strap in and go! Haha.

Also, thank you for the compliment! I guess I got the mics just right by chance. I did a Tremoverb demo too which turned out alright.

Yeah your playing just sounded more musical to me in the mark, that’s an amp that fits you great. I wonder what you’d think of Splawn versus the reissue jubilee?

i'm Interested in the Tremoverb Demo

I’d like to try a Splawn again. A buddy has one so maybe I can check it out. I remember liking the Nitro but I liked the Uber Rev Blue I played next to it a lot more. I’m currently borrowing that amp and it’s one of my all time favorites.

I’d love to try the Snorkler too.

I added my Tremoverb demo in the original post :)

Appreciate the effort but still too boomy and obscuring in the low end. I would experiment with the placement of the room mic to lessen the effect.
Edit…a little better on the T-Verb one

I appreciate the feedback. I was really just trying to capture what I hear when I’m playing which I think I accomplished. I love those “in the room” tones because I get a sense of how the amp really sounds and breathes.

I didn’t want to start making eq moves, using high pass filters, etc. I will experiment for sure though. The journey is just beginning, haha.

Fwiw, here’s an eq’d clip of the Mark and Tremoverb. This was my first attempt at going direct with IRs (fryette PS-2)

That sounds great. As usual, what would rock is using a blend. You get the size and breath of the recto and the sharper, punchy Mark attack. It certainly makes me glad I own a T-Verb as it often puts a smile on my face. Do you still own the T-Verb?

Thank you. Yeah, the Tremoverb is mine and I’m borrowing the Mark. I had the same one, well, a long head IVB for over a decade so dialing it was just as I remembered.

Loved that amp but something about the T-verb even with all its quirks and imperfections just makes me smile, like you said:) The hugeness is addicting.

I love the clean setting, driving a little. It’s a great alternative for heavier sounds when you use pedals because it has a lot more klangin’ mid range than when you’re in the usual recto gain modes.

Great vids and tones! I think a combo of the Jub and Tverb would be ideal. Marks are amazing but to my ears seem to lack the grind/character of the Marshall and the fullness of the recto.

The thump in the Stephtones 😍

Thank you! I have played the Jubilee and tremoverb together with a good ABY and they kill when combined.

Glad you dig the Deftones clip
