1. What year did they produce this particular model/color “3 tone cherry burst”? If anyone has one of these for sale, or knows where there is one, I’m interested!

2. On the EVH bridge pocket. It looks like this guitar is specifically designed so that the bridge cannot be setup fully floating, but I could be wrong. Looks like it’s made so it can only go down, not pulled backwards. Hence why it comes with d tuna. Is there a way to run it floating without carving wood or modifying the guitar?

3. I’m planning on retrofitting a different bridge humbucker in my current Wolfgang. I’ve got a 2019 Wolfie special. I’m not too fond of the evh pickup. It’s kind of stale. Has a scooped, modern sound to it with no bite or sizzle. You can tell it’s designed for modern chug metal. I’m looking for something that’ll scream more, have more of a kick to it, but be tight on the bottom end too. I played one of the new charvel so cals the other day through the exact same amp I’ve got (DSL40CR). I believe it had the duncan distortion in it. It sounded much better through the dsl than my evh. Had more kick and “there there” to it. Really brought the amp to life. Any others you recommend I should consider? I know I will have to do some slight modification to get the pup fitted. No biggie. Videos on YouTube for that. Plus, it’s just common sense rigging.

I would get a USA peavey wolfie over an EVH tbh. As far as the color I cannot comment. I actually prefer the peavey Wolfgang pickups to the EVH.

Yes the tremolo is not recessed. I would set them level and use a trem blocker to get them horizontal.

Recessed and floating isn´t really the same thing, you could always shim the neck pocket to get a bit of an angle and raise the Floyd to match. You don´t need much angle at all to get the Floyd off of the body. It´s not recessed but still floating, like they did it back in the 80s.

+1 on the USA Wolf. I have a couple and they are amazing. The EVH USA ones are pretty amazing also, they have a couple extra features like stainless frets and bournes low friction pot for the volume. And the floyd arm has the nut to tighten it.

I do prefer the Peavey pups though, a lot.

That's how I set my peavey wolfy up - angle the neck with shims in the neck pocket to get the neck flat with little bow in the setup and to get the peavey tremolo to be flush with the body. It's not full floating but you can get away with vibrato if needed. Also looks better that way too.

Shameless picture (Before I restored and setup the guitar) :)
