So about 9 months ago I started my Friday Lunch Break Jam Time!! on my Facebook page. It started out me just jamming to a backing track for like 60 seconds. I got some good responses so I was doing it every Friday. Then I did a few covers, then I started getting requests lol It’s actually been a lot of fun and I’ve learned a lot of solos I never would have otherwise (like the Petrucci solo below). I recently started adding the covers to my YouTube page, here’s a couple of them. Rig on all is the ESP EC-256>Boss SD-1>Ho attenuator>Jet City Iso Cab>Heil PR20>BAE DMP 1073>Pro Tools. fx are Digi reverb and delay. Hope you dig em!!

Dream Theater/John Petrucci

Scorpions

Hendrix

Hugely entermataining as always, Brother Daz!

Thanks for sharing mate.

Great job! Really brings it home how good Jabs was. Perfect for those songs and for the band.

question for you about the iso cab, do you hear a sort of filtering or boxiness? I sometimes feel like your clips lack a bit of bite and now I am wondering if it is that iso cab which is sucking your high end.

mmmm… Its more how i eq the amp. I have presence and treble at 2, so they are pretty low. I prefer a darker tone. the volume into the iso cab is pretty low and i dont think i hear any weirdness going on. i could certainty make it brighter if i wanted to

I guess you like your tone like your playing... SMOOOTH :p

hah! thanks man. I love Eric Johnson’s tone and thats kinda what I go for, but I like more drive and less reliance on verb/delay, which is counter his tone lol but this is where I ended up lol

It's a good strategy IMHO Daz.

Mids are so important for lead mix-cut-through and too much 'verb and delay reduce clarity / articulation.

Plus, of course, less treble and more mids = cream.

I'm the opposite, like more cut but it is definitely true. EQ'ing that way is not forgiving and with my pick attack, it can sometimes pinch in the upper registrars. As such I like pickups which cut on the low strings and are smoother on the top. What a mess the tone hunt is!
