So, as some of you know I got a new Friedman BE-100 a couple weeks ago and have a 4x12 coming Monday. I will be taking these out regularly to shows (not practice though, Shiva at practice.

So I have had Tuki Covers before, got a couple covers for my 20th Shiva and OS2x12 cab. They were pretty expensive and still think they are way overpriced but thats what Bogner and even the Bogner salesman suggested. But I'm not going with Tuki covers anymore.

What do you guys suggest? I actually might get a hardshell off Craigslist for the BE-100. Some of you might say screw a cover, but I'm clumsier now days and just want to find some decent covers at a decent price. D2F I think was the name of the padded cover I had for my Mesa and it was reasonably priced and almost as good as the Tuki covers.

So whats some good options and companies?

Invest in some "flight" cases. Unless you're touring, you can protect your gear with the lower-end options and not break the bank. I have several cases for guitar and PA gear that I got from Road Ready Cases (http://www.roadreadycases.com/) and I haven't had any issues. They aren't the best money can buy, but they work perfectly well for the weekend warrior stuff I do...

I've been eyeballing the Studio Slips stuff for a couple of my cabs. For heads I've been using an SKB 720. It's light, has wheels and a retractable handle making it easy to go from vehicle to stage.

I have studio slips for my heads and cabs, heads are clamshell which protects the whole thing and cabs are slip on covers. Work great, don't add weight and really protect well unless your stuff is being thrown in a truck. If you pack your stuff yourself and transport in your car/truck there is no better solution than the studio slips clam shell. Good enough for my Bogner XTC 20th. Try picking up a heavy head in a heavy roadcase, I have one, I never use it now.

DAMN the SKB 720 is $230 for a box of molded plastic and metal parts! I can get a real ATA Flight case on Craigslist for less than that.

Telling you, Studio Slips, all my 4x12's and heads have them, no marks dings etc in almost 3 years of use. Have fun carrying a head in a ATA case...4x12 in a case? WOw, hope you have a road crew and a truck.

I picked up one for each of my heads, I just with Safe Case. $180 / free shipping, and those things are great. There are alot of the cheap-o ones on Ebay to avoid, but Safe Case would be my recommendation. I would just use a cover for the cab, a 4x12 in a case would be ridiculously heavy.

Agreed.

...unless you've damaged heads in the past and expect for it to happen again. Case for head, slip for 412 :dunno:

I had 412 cases, went to slip covers, then I just didn't care and slid those suckers around.

I always recommend cases. Need some for my Splawn 2x12's.

Hey man, I see you have the same head. Is the BE100 same size as a 1959 Plexi?

I bought 2 Anvil head cases, and soon two 4X12 road cases also. I like them a lot, especially moving this expensive gear around, it's better safe than sorry...

I see your cat likes them, too!

That may be but I don't see me flying my head to a gig anytime soon. The light weight is a plus for me since Im the only one schlepping my gear. I've been using the SKB 720 since '04 w/o issues. Never thought "damb, wish I'd bought a heavy ass flight case instead" ymmv

Yea I know what your saying, weights always a concern, but the bouncing and shaking of rolling my amp don't set well with me (and I might and could possibly be flying with it, then I'd wish I woulda gotten the ATA. 720 is pretty big and at that price I could find a used lightweight ATA case. But I see where for some it can be a good idea. I don't mind the weight, it's not like I'll be carrying the amp in case that long.

Was thinking of getting a used flight case, a Gator flight at $160, or just a padded Tuki or D2F like I usually have with my amps. But I love this amp more than any I've had so might go with the Gator. Going to Nashville next week, could try and find a deal on a new or used one to cut out shipping. Thanks for the recommendations guys. They all seem like good protection.

As far as covers go, if you don't need a clamshell then go with Lecover. Same quality as Studio Slips, but cheaper and faster shipping. I've had them all and only use Lecover now.

I made this at work. It's 1" polyurethane foam with a vinyl on the back. This will take a hit/bumb better that the normal slips.

Well board quota reached. I'll post some pics when I get home.
