looking for a 12AX7 for my high gain amps. TAD HG? MESA SPAX7?

What say you guys?

I always like the EH12ax7 in v1.. I guess if you want to spend some cash the Telefunken 7025's are really good. They used to be cheaper.

Also check out the 5751s

JAN NOS stuff if you can. V1 or PI.

5751 all day long in V1......used in EVH and ENGL heads was the cure for too much fuzzy noisy gain........cleaned them up with gain to spare...

Go here:

and look at the Ruby HG+ - either JJ or the Chinese - depending on your taste, or the Mullard CV4004.

My recently purchased VH4 came from the factory with the CV4004 in V1, and it sounds great.

I've also used the Ruby HG+ tubes from ValveQueen in a bunch of amps with great results.
If the amp is on the bright side, I'll use the JJ version to smooth it out, otherwise I use the chinese ones.
I keep a few of all of these tubes on hand to dial in my amps.

I have 4 brand new/unused tubestore Preferred Series 7025/12AX7’s I can sell that were slated for an EVH amp, that I ended up selling. Sold'em!!

They worked great in the EVH.

Russian 12AX7 LPS sounds great in V1 and phase inverter...

I have bought a bunch of Ruby 12AX7C5's, C7's, and CZ's graded HG and HG+, and all of them with the exception of the CZ's have been microphonic in V1 to some extent. I guess I must be gotten unlucky.

I like the tone and the lack of noise/microphony of the Russian Mullard CV4004.
