That's a Charvel USA Pro Mod San Dimas Style 2 2H. You can tell by the 6 digit Serial Number (beginning with 2 0s) on the neck plate and the location of the volume and switch. He's tarted it up quite a bit for sure - he changed out the Floyd for a gold one (originally black), changed out the pickups and rings, changed out the volume knob and switch as well.

On his claims, he's either misinformed or completely full of shit about it being a USA Select - it is clearly not one and no way that was $2299 new, nor would it cost you $2400 now. USA Selects can be had for $1899 brand new.

Bottom line - it isn't what he says it is, but if you like all that gold, the price is not terrible for a USA Pro Mod - they are kinda hard to find...

I am not interested in it, just curious because I didn't believe it to be a new select, thanks for dropping some of your vast Charvel knowledge Steve!!

If you are patient you can find them for 5-700. I just grabbed a GREAT playing SC1 for 650 not too long ago.
But, as Steve said that is a decent price considering the upgrades, supposed condition and the fact that they were just made for 2 years. That is a very early serial number, legend has it the very early ones were ringers...lol
All I know is I've had probably 10 USAs from that 08-09 run, and had a candy blue that played as good as any custom shop I've owned. Stupidly traded it off...got lucky last month with this Plum SC1 and it ain't going anywhere...

Anytime, bro!

Nice guitar no question. It doesn't matter how much it listed for or what it was purchased for new. What matters is what the market is for used. I'm guessing it won't sell for $999...more like $750-850 range. The thing that cracks me up a bit is AAA alder hahah

"AAA alder" just means the body was made from three pieces of alder!

Wrong control cavity cover too...

That said, great guitars. San Dimas Style 2. I would expect he'll get close to his asking price.

What is considered a very early serial number for the US pro mods?

I thought they started at 1500, although the dealer rep guitars used 4 digit plates without the 00 in front of the four. But Curt(Chubtone) would know for sure.

I have 001008 from the 1st run bought through Chubtone.

He is very close so he got some of the very first ones. I still shake my head why people just do not go to him for anything Charvel or his own line of guitars.

I've learned quite a bit from Curt and Steve here on RT about USA Charvels and Jacksons. So much of what I say here is usually second hand from Curt, Steve or other Charvel guys...
But Curt isn't on here much anymore. And he is clearly busy with his own line..I've sent a couple emails about a custom one off but no response. Maybe my email spammed the response.
He's a good dude and is THE Charvel guy on RT. He is very busy I'm sure.
