Sweeeeeeeeet! Love that chirpiness that only a cranked plexi will do.....

I liked the 2nd channel, but the first channel with the bass on "4" would be perfect.

Can you rollback & cleanup using an attenuator?

I should have rolled it up a bit (the bass knob) Yes it cleans up w a roll back. The video starts w a slight roll'ed back volume knob. (not much though)

Aren't you treetopper? I dig your clips...particularly the stuff through the old amps. Great technique. Cool stuff.

Yes, and thanks! :D

You guys all rock thanks for the compliments. I can see why they are unreliable at that volume level. It went out towards the end of the video shoot.

maybe you did not get the memo. it is impossible to get that kind of gain out of a dimed plexi.lol
sounds killer.

lol exactly what I was thinking given the debate on the VH1 isolation tracks... once again, PLexi dimed + hot pickup = getting there. Throw in the EP pre and a variac, i'd say you are in flavour country. But still those in the know will swear that there was a pedal on the first album...
You guys are both wrong IMHO. Diming the right year plexi with specific transformers and parts will get you that sound. Diming just any old plexi wont get you there. Ask anyone who has tried and tried it and they will tell you the same. Even Mark (rockstah) who has that sound NAILED will more then likely will confirm this ;)

He has a clip from a stock 70-something plexi that gets really, really close. I wished I could find it. It's on his soundclick.

This is "close enough" for me to the early VH tone. Nothing in the equation is correct anyway (besides a Plexi a few years later with guts that are most likely much different than Eddies)

What sort of attenuator Todd? I still have the Bogshall in the closet here but never bought an attenuator. Held off because I would probably buy one, ship it.....then you know the rest!

Also got a bone stock 76 Super Bass on the shelf that still has the original tubes in it. Guess I should try them out one day.....
