I think he thinks its a model 8 Charvel not a Spectrum Charvel. That is the unicorn he thinks he has. The only major difference is one had a toothpaste logo and the other "unicorn" version had the regular Charvel logo.
He has the more common Spectrum, nothing rare about it.
Only reason I know this is because I had a "unicorn" Model 8 and sold it to another collector for like 1200 back in 2008.
I've seen Spectrums on GC used for 2-300 within the past 3 months. Never heard of a model 8 though, I'd still imagine any Jap Charvel is still just a jap Charvel. Nice guitars but no USA model.
