Sounds a bit more like it once I started layering guitars... all guitars are kemper, two rhythms panned hard left and right, triple tracked the solo, hard left, right and center. Used a backing track from the web. Guitars are louder than the original, but I wanted to hear em :)

simply badass! very true to the original, with some extra flair thrown in. i love it! dig the tone too...really close to Randy's!

id love to hear you do over the mountain!

Thanks man. I sound like some Kemper Koolaid drinker, but it really is a magic box. Had it since February and it still is awesome. Did the crazy train tone match because one of my bands plays it. Going to try it at practice and see how it works. It may need the overdubbing to really sound 'right'.

That sounds really close. How did you isolate it enough to profile it?

youtube has an isolated guitar track, but it's drenched in reverb. That's what I used.

What an amazing tool...It seems like a cover band guitarist's dream.

Yeah, except you'd probably need a really good sound guy to be futzing around with your levels all the time depending on how much punch/mids each tone had. It is kinda fun though to be able to goof around with backing tracks and have something that's at least in the ballpark. I'll probably do a VH and a Boston track next since I did those tones too.

Man, thanks for sharing! Really, really nice! I think you nailed it!

Thanks guys! Only bad thing is, it's such a unique tone that it's pretty much useless for much else than playing along to Ozzy backing tracks :)

What else is there?

Sounds great Pete  Great playing too buddy

That nailed the tone close enough for me  Great playing also.

That was badass, man. Sounded closer than anything I've ever heard. You bombed on that!

Were you able to load the audio directly from the computer into the kemper or did you have to actually mic a monitor for it to profile?

No, it's a little more involved than that. The basic steps were:

1) setup the kemper for profilng with my PC in line - so the chain was guitar into kemper into profiled amp, and then microphone to board to PC to kemper.

2) I downloaded that track on youtube, put it in my recording program and captured the EQ profile with Ozone

3) I played the same riff, captured the EQ from my playing into Ozone

4) Applied the captured EQ from Randy to my riff

5) used that EQ inline as I profiled the amp with my Kemper (so it would 'bake into' the Kemper profile)

now if I pull up that profile I captured, it has the Randy tone.

Sounds really convoluted but after you do it a few times it's not bad. Not something I'd like to do for every profile but kinda neat now and then.
