Curious about Diezel.....

If I'm not a death metal player are any of these amps for me? I'm from the Hendrix/VH/Maiden school of guitar.

If I may, the reason to get a Diezel is to get away from anything Marshall'esque.

That said, Ch.2 on the Hagen and the VH4 do crunchy kerrang in spades. But the strength of a Diezel lies in the fact that it is a Diezel.

Nothing sounds like a Diezel, but Diezel.

Hi.
This is exactly how it started for me.
I was "curious" about Diezel and how close to Marshall it could get, and I discovered a new world of sound, based on quality, clarity and versatile as hell...
Now I own a D-moll and I see no need to perform in Marshall territory.
Even more, I am already (secretly) looking foreward to my next Diezel Amp.

By the way, my favorite Marshallesque Diezel sound is VH4 ch2. Only my 2 cents.

I guess when I say Marshall....I mean I don't like scooped mids....I don't like Mesa type fuzziness....I don't care for bogner type compressed tones.

To be honest, I don't like too scooped mid sound either, I don't hear the melody then if it is too scooped.
The thing is that if you learn how to use it, you will like it.
At the moment, I have found the sweet spot for it to use it with clean sound and coil-splitted humbucker, it is very nice.

For hi gain, I like the Diezel mid-range so much that I don't use it at the moment. I have to learn how to use it properly for distorted sound.

Lack of mids isn't something to concern yourself when it comes to Diezel. Outside of the famed and notorious mid cut Ch.2 on the Herbert, everything else is lush, full, outstandingly 3D, and basically - top of the heap sonically if your ears are keen on what Diezel offers. VH4 is one of the most popular amps found in studios worldwide - the reason for this is its versatility.

Go and test drive. But remember that Diezels do respond very nicely to different cabs and guitars, so take that into account when testing and judging the tones.

Diezel's don't scoop, except when using the mid-cut on the Herbert or D-Moll.

I had an Einstein, which I thought after trying a Herbert and VH4 was the most classic sounding of the bunch. This one had KT88s in it, which I love anyway. It could definitely get into Engl territory if you wanted that but I thought it was fantastic for beautiful sparkly warm cleans on channel 1 mode 1, great Stevie Ray and ACDC type stuff on channel 1 mode 2, and just about everything rock on channel 1 mode 3. I could nail Lynch's Wicked Sensation tone with that. Channel 2, I could clone IMO Sykes Whitesnake lead tone. And the tones were always rich and organic. That was a really versatile amp.

The sound quality isn't as good as it should/could be, and there's not enough playing to truly showcase the "breadth" that this amp can attain. It does everything, amazingly well. It's not an amp that can be summarized in 10min.

Now, I know Ola makes almost all amps sound like, well, "Ola", but this video really give the listener an appreciation for where the mids lay on the VH4s infamous Ch.3 This is a good single taste test of a small portion of the amp. Want more? Listen to pretty well any Tool CD and the predominant amp you're hearing is the VH4.

But rest assured, it's not an "only metal" amp.

Gavin Rossdale of Bush used the Diezel VH4 for his recent album.
Lots of blues cats have run their axes through Ch.1 and Ch.2
There's a lot of variety it can do - don't let Ola's metal clip scare you
