Custom shop jackson soloist or a suhr modern

They are going to play different. Suhr will give you a much better quality product. My Soloist is beat all to hell and back, the front PU route is empty and I put an EVH Signature Frankenstein in the back. It has been played hard and put up wet. The Soloist will come standard with a wide neck and a large radius. You really have to get these things broke in to get them feeling comfortable.

But, out of the box, hands down Suhr Modern feels like putting your hands on something familiar or in something familiar . The neck on the Modern is a little skinny and takes some getting used to, but is very, very fast. The satin finish on it rocks. Mine is black with a maple neck/fingerboard. The DSH+ pickups haven't wow'd me too much. So, I ordered up an Aldrich for the bridge. This is one guitar I will try to keep nice!

Go with the Suhr man....not even a second thought!

Well, internet hype is how I got my wife. And that, has ah, sort of worked out.

I think the Jackson PC-1 compares more favorably with the Suhr Modern. The PC-1 has a neck that is a little chunkier, but not in a bad way. A soloist reminds me more of an RG Ibanez. Nice but not in the same league as a Modern or PC-1, especially for the price.

I played a modern in the whale finish pretty guitar,anyways the neck was a 10 radious played nice but I like the 12 to 16 compound radious of Jackson. I know that I can also get this from suhr it's going to be a real .

I just repaired a Jackson Custom Shop for someone, and it was almost as horrific as Gibsons QC.
They actually clear coated over the nut that was cut too low. Removing it was like detailed surgery to not damage the paint and rest of the finish.

Try 'em both.
Personally, i have never liked anything by Suhr.
There is a local store that my buddy works at that stock about 25 of them and not one of them has impressed me.

25? That sounds a LOT more than most any place I've head of to have in stock at one time. Did you play any of the Moderns? That's one Suhr I'd like to try. Suhr builds a perfect playing guitar free of any defects, getting one that sounds great isn't always a "Suhr" thing though.

But, I'm think that for my tone tastes, I'd love one with a Mahoganey or basswood body, maple top, and the Aldrich pickups. That'd probably rock.

Yeah, Moog Audio stocks a hell of a lot of them here.
I've played the S style, T style, the Modern and another one that looks like a Modern, but with a S-style body.

I wouldn't mind trying a used one maybe, but for the 3K to 5K (new) they want for them here, no way are they worth it.

Both great instruments but they are completely different animals...I would play each and decide which one fits your needs more. I would shy away from ordering a Jackson though...they can't seem to get an entire work order correct to save their lives. Jackson has become much like Gibson IMO...you gotta try it before you buy it. Conversely, you're pretty much guaranteed that a Suhr is not going to have any quirky issues.

Have you considered Anderson? I consider them at least equal to Suhr in quality and I prefer them from a feel/playability standpoint.
