That's much nicer sounding to me then the blackout you had previously, it has some sizzle and top crunch while still being thick.

So dude, the plot thickens.

It turns out this IS actually a Blackout too ...the only difference being is that this amp has a Whomp vs the Blackout's Depth....this is the difference we are hearing in the Bass.

Another observation, I was using the Suhr Aldrich pup in my LP back when I had the Blackout and I recently changed to a Duncan Distortion. That could be something else we are hearing.
Damn Chippy. All you needed was a Whomp mod needed. NFB makes or breaks an amp. The Whomp focuses the frequency range of the loop. Works with a narrower range as well which is a good thing. A little different than a depth control.

A lot of great information here... thanks so much for posting clips on these rare amps... I didn't like the suhr bass frequencies at all when I had a SE+ and a OD 100 years ago. glad to see this has been addressed? Noticed that you still have the bass backed off (less than mid way) which tells me it is still bass heavy compared to a Marshall.

Wish I lived closer I would bring the Wizards over!

Yes, there is a ton of Bass still on tap and this is also with Whomp on the OFF position. Whomp on FULL brings you back to how my Blackout sounded.

I am hoping this type of Bass is what is coming in the new PT. If it is, then game over.

I owned an OD100 and an SE+, and like lespaul6, my beef was also with the bass on both amps. With the SE+ I could never get the balance of low end and tightness I wanted for fast riffs. I found the problem to be an overabundance of bass and low mids, so I'm glad they took out some bass. It's still one of the punchiest amps I've ever played for leads, though.

Yeah, those new PT's do seem really, really, cool.

Is there a purpose to all this amp whoring ?

Do me a favor, leave this thread :gethim:
Public forum, apparently you like the attention you post amp clips on like 5 others.

If you want to do a comprehensive shootout or rundown of amps that's cool.

But I see no point in dropping 4K on an amp of the week to do a 40 second clip and then sell the amp.

You may be addicted to amps or attention I dunno.

The amp in this clip sounds like a Bogner but John does great work.

Don't take it personal when you post in public and hear something you don't like, I don't.

Ok Dan, you don't know me so I'll explain.

I'm not addicted to amps. I don't buy and sell.

I have 7 amps, an axe FX and 6 cabinets. I keep most of what I buy.

I do clips bc people don't get the chance to play these things and have to rely on YouTube to make purchasing decisions on very pricey amps.

I used to be in the same position and really appreciated Mark Days clips to help me decide what to buy.

I don't need the attention. In fact, I sacrifice a lot my own personal time that I could be spending with my wife and two baby girls to make these clips and share my experiences.

If I posted without clips then that would be me just bragging away but I always put work into my videos.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

You do everyone a great service by your actions!!! Seriously thanks for the clips!

What does NFB stand for?
Negative feed back

That amp sounds great Alex! Very crunchy with a nice aggressive Marshall like , mid-range. I would have never guessed it was a Suhr amp.

My house is a) not big enough for a large ampfest and b) probably not the ideal location geographically.

Maybe we should rent a rehearsal space some place in the middle.

Was in no way suggesting having everyone at your place! actually it would be awesome to meet, hang out, and check out a shit load of cool amps at a studio as to not worry about volume and such.

I like the sound of this one a lot mate, and you're right it is a forum called Rig-Talk not "Austerity and sensible puchases.com", i love that you keep buying more and more, it's way less douchey than playing golf or buying a convertible! :D

Can you guys keep me posted if you are doing an ampfest on Long Island. I am from the area and Im not a stalker I promise :)
