The topic of benefit of daisy chain (DC Brick, One Spot) vs. isolated power supplies (Voodoo Labs PP2, Cioks) comes up every once in a while here.

Here a video Dan Burgess of this1smyne effects did contrasting the two.

In my experience, I had a near constant hum using the stock daisy chain power supply on my old SKB PS45 board and have no problem whatsoever since switching to my MXR/CAE MC403

If you read some the comments, he thinks it's especially more evident when using power hungry pedals such as Strymon delays and can behave quite differently based on the amp.

In my opinion isolated power supplies solve the problem of effects leaking noise back into the power system. Line 6 pedals are really bad about this. Pedals can be designed to not due this and there are many that do. All I'm saying is the noise isn't caused by the power supply - it's caused by the pedal and you are using an isolated supply to fix it.

Exactly. I find digital pedals are more likely to leak noise. As long as you are willing to do some work and have isolate the offending pedals, daisy chains work fine. To me running on pedal on its own power supply and the rest on a power all, works fine. I am slowing moving to isolated supplies, but its mainly to cut down on the adapters and get different voltage options. I am running my Timmy OD at 12v now. :)

I had an MJM Britbender that wouldn't work at all with a Daisy Chain. Specifically a One Spot. It wasn't until I got my Furman powered pedal board that I figured this out.

So if I power my LINE 6 modeler on it's own wall wart and the rest on a joyo power unit I shouldn't get noise? Does it matter where in my set up the LINE 6 goes?

What is up with the effects loop box? why not just go into the effects loop?

And is the camera mounted to your head? what camera are you using?

I ditched my one spot years ago and when I got back into pedals went with a Voodoo Labs PP2+. Problems solved.

I wouldn't trust anything that thief douchebag this1smyne says. But then again, that's because he stole from me.

Did I mention Dan is a douchebag?

Btw, OP, glad to hear you fixed the hum problems with your gear.

I know this is an old thread, but if you are having hum issues with your power-all or one spot, try reversing it in the socket. In my experience in one orientation there is no hum, the other there is hum.

This sounds like it needs an elaboration.

True. I'll start a thread and give details.
