I was watching a Robert Baker video while I warm up and lo and behold, it was just put out with Andy Wood, a picking lesson. He's talking about Andy's Woodshed event, and it's held right here in my damn town, the tiny little town of Crossville, TN a couple hours east of Nashville. Lessons/clinics, watching the guys and learning, etc from Paul Gilbert, Dan Huff, Andy Wood, Mark Lettieri, Trey Hensley, Daniel Kimbro, Jim Riley, and Andy Campbell. He's had several other heavy hitters in the past. Unfortunately, the tickets are like $2400 if I drive back and forth, or up to $3300 if I stay in their lodgings.

If it was like $100 a day or so to go, I'd probably go check out 2 days or something, but holy shit, I can't pay 1/4 of a guy's salary for the day just to go.

Andy Wood is a monster player, but this is a grift dude LOL

This is for all the rich, white collar retirees to waste money on. Just like the newest "you must buy this!!!" youtube product.

It's not going to magically improve your guitar playing even if you pay all that money for the retreat.

Literally everything they could teach you is common knowledge on the internet now - how the fuck do you think those chinese kids get so good?

This is literally so rich people can pay to hang out with real musicians.

Yeah, it's such a small town, and I'm sure the venue is very intimate and small. So it'll just be rich guys who grew up on that stuff that are now wealthy that get to go and fanboy it out for a few days.

I wish I was wealthy so I could go fanboy it out and see Paul, Dan, and Andy lol

That's why I laughed at the pricing. Might as well take a chiquita travel guitar to a four seasons resort or just go buy a nice used Gibson, lol. A lot of these dudes grift with these camps now since their "pro" chops don't support their lifestyle addictions. It's not just rock either, it's across the board.

The premise of what he’s trying to do with that is cool. The price isn’t completely ridiculous if you consider the all inclusive lodging, the musicians he’s bringing out & the 100 guest limit.

I’m sure it’s not cheap to book those guys for a long weekend, and actually getting to hang & jam with them would be an experience.

Even still, I’m not paying that much.

I had looked at Petrucci one a few years ago. It was around the same ball park with lodging.

I didn't go. But i bet it could be a fun experience depending on the attendees.

There was one of these I think last year in California for almost $7k for the same number of days. I believe that one was Vai and co, but still. Tokyo Disney is fun any time of the year.

how do those things actually work? Does each guy come out and do a clinic or something? Do they do shows?

They did this at GIT. Every week there was a musician who would come. Play. Show things. Show off. Bring people up. The key is to not be worried what the other folks think. Stage fright hurts. Uhhhh uhhhh. Chugga chuggq tink tink. If you can get up and actually zone in to what you want at the session you can learn something.

Well if that's their formula, no way, even if I had the money. I'm not playing ANYTHING in front of Paul, Dan, and Andy....even if I had all day to warm up lol

I paid like $700 for a 3 day pass for Skankfest 2025

Most expensive tickets I've ever bought but should be worth 🥳
