I think that the company makes some incredible stuff and I think that the G-system would a great addition to my board but I have some reservations..

1) Ive read about all kinds of issues with all the converters, A>D. D>A etc.....
2) I love the fact it has that powered patch bay to add some pedals but I hear that those loops suck

3) They route alot of Mod FX through the FX loop like Phaser and Univibe, Who the hell does this?

Cool for what it is but not fantastic. Can be useful sometimes though. It's a bit digital sounding and has a bit of latency.

You may want to check out Liard Williams' White Paper. Here is a link where you can find the download:

It is a long read but if you are interested in the G-System... I think it is important to understand it and this is the best piece I've found on the topic. I deffinately do not think the unit is a "plug and play" solution. It will need to be tweeked to get the best results... but some people swear by them once the've gotten their systems dialed in.

I ended up buying one (got a deal I couldn't pass up). I haven't plugged it in yet because I'm waiting on my amp. However I will point out a few things that I've read.

1. The pedal power supply that is included in the G-system is not isolated and is 9v only. Therefore I would reccomend adding something like the voodoo pedal power to power the pedals that you use in the loops.

2 / 3. One of the things that drove me to this piece is that it allows you to put 4 (true bypass) loops in front of the amp and keep ther rest of the (digital) effects in the amplifier effects loop. I am a Van Halen nut and wanted my phaser, flanger and chorus in front of the amp so that I can get as close to the EVH sound as possible. I will use the EVH and MXR analog pedals for this. Not sure how the loops can suck since they are before the digital section and are independantly switched on and off just like any other true bypass pedal board. I intend on using the digital effects (delay, reverb and pitch) in the loop and analog pedals via the 4 loops (my mod pedals - phaser, flanger and chorus) in front of the amp.

I know Peter Thorn is a power user of the G-system and I believe Dave set up his board.

What do you think Dave am I on track here?
