Good for him for making things easy.

Whatever you think of modelers, they make a lot of sense for live and touring musicians.

I love both my tube amps and my Fractal. They're each great at their own things.

Is Axe FX more reliable than the Kemper stuff? Seems to me Kemper had the it factor forever. They always sounded closest to my ears. Or was there a huge jump in the Axe 3?

I, for one, prefer the AxeFX III to my prior Kemper. Easier to dial in “your” tone and it just sounds and feels just like a tube amp. My band has sounded great since I made the switch.

I like the Kemper a little better going direct to board in terms of feel, but sounds like Dave is just using it as a preamp + fx unit and is still running a EL34 power amp and stage cabs. Kinda makes sense, he was running the JMP-1/JFX-1 pre/fx for decades, he's just using the model of it and cloning his settings on the AxeFX now.

The FX in the Fractal are way better IMO.

ive seen way more pros using Axe rigs and now helix's than ive seen using kempers, seems like they are more a studio tool

The AxeFX III and the Kemper both do a great job. I think you are going to see more and more touring bands go this route. With the cost of touring going through the roof, it helps to save money on cartage and maintenance. Most people in the audience aren't gong to be able to tell the difference anyway...

i think it was 2010 or maybe earlier i got to check out megadeth's rig and they already had a rack full of Axe's then

The JMP-1s are still there, just in case I guess. Rack is still huge and heavy, with old school power amps and live cabinets. If anything, the AXE units probably added to the cartage costs lol.

Saw them tonight. Dave sounded fantastic during his solos. I've always found maiden's live sound a little washy, but not in a bad way. They've modelled the JMP-1 into the Fractal then used it to run the power amp and cabs still. If he can't tell the difference, I can promise you no one in the crowd gives a fuck. They where too busy rocking out to take a hissy fit ;)

Why does he not just use a real Marshall head? He has a guy setup his gear and could get Marshalls for free. Maiden is a money machine and can afford to hail around some real amps.

that was one of the worse rig rundowns I have seen.. I mean there were other guitars in the rack, one of which looks like a Charvel Danhage. Are they Adrians or Janick?? come on man we need to know hahahaha

Because he prefers using the Fractal?

I’m with you on this. The guitar tones in Maiden haven’t been great since they stopped using JMP’s ALONG time ago.

How was the band? I have seen a few clips now with some timing issues. I am a huge Adrian fan and in a recent clip I saw him dragging on wasted years screwing the timing up and then sort of bailing on it in frustration thinking everyone else was off. Here it is..maybe it is me but he is behind. Might be slight but he's not keeping up with that main part.
