what are you soldering? Weller professional irons will run you around 40 bucks USD and area a great choice, but the wattage is the real question in making a recommendation like the one you asked. Light duty work? A Weller WP25D is a great choice for light guage wire or printed circuit board work, but if you're getting into tinning and soldering or desoldering larger guage wire, save yourself a lot of time and frustration and move up into the 35 watt iron range like the Weller WP35. Best choice? Get both of them and have the right tool for the job on hand.

I would love my Weller WES51, but mine has an intermittent connection to the base, lived with it for years...
