I am looking for suggestions on which delay pedal to get to fatten my solos. Maybe I need more than a delay. Any suggestions are appreciated. I am using a Diezel Herbert through a front loaded cabinet. I am looking for a budget unit. Thanks

The MXR Carbon Copy is a sweet delay pedal and fattens things up nicely. I haven't tried it with my Herbert yet but it's killer with my Ultra Lead.

+1.

A good delay unit should be all you need to add some mojo to your leads. Also try a phase 90 or a good compressor pedal.

The MXR CC pedal has been the best sounding delay pedal I've owned to date.

I also have to agree with the Carbon Copy, Its a great Analog Delay Pedal that really fattens up the sound especially on leads. Sometimes I use it with Rocktron Big Crush Compression pedal too.

What do ya mean by "budget"? To me, under $80 or so is budget, $80-$120 is normal  , and over that is a waste of money :D (well, atleast for me)... I currently use a Biyang Baby Boom Delay, and for the price it's pretty decent. I have not been able to A/B it with a CC, but it does have that semi lo-fi thing going on, and it's able to do longer delays up to 1100ms with the flip of a switch. I think I snagged mine for like $50 new. WARNING: It is super pink though (but it's OK in my book  )

The best budget unit out there is the Ibanez DE7. Great analog emulation and can be had for around $40

My price range is $80-100. In regard to the CC, should I purchase only V.2?

I actually like the Ibanez more than the CC...regardless of price ;)

Just recorded some leads yesterday with the Carbon Copy.

I typically don't record with effects. I add them later, but.........with the Carbon Copy? I print that thing. It sounds KILLER. Sounds better to me than the cheesy stereo delays most producers add after the fact.

I didn't even know there was a V2. Got mine in early '09 and it KILLS!

Theres not much difference.

The first batch came out and people didn't hear much warble with the mod button....so they made v2 which increases the range of the internal trim pots.

Go V2...but v1 won't disappoint.

Do you know when the V2 came out? I'm assuming mine is the older version, and I think the amount and depth of the modulation is perfect. I actually adjusted the trim pot for just a bit more and ended up setting it back to stock position. It shipped just right IMO. One bit of advice: mark the stock setting so you don't forget where it was set. The pot is very sensitive and it would be tough to find that sweet spot again.

Carbon copy -- just kills -- it has been my favorite analog delay since it first came out.

That being said --- I picked up a Providence 80's Delay (yeah I know it is pricey but they are not made anymore).

the thing without question is the best pedal delay I have ever come across (it rivals my old 2290). I never played a Cornish TES (David gilmor) - but a lot of folks say it is very similar.

Here is a link to a video demo

I hate to repeat what everyone else has said on the subject, but I am also loving the Carbon Copy. I have the Mix and Regen set low, like 8 o'clock and 9, respectively, with the delay around 1 o'clock. It kind of puts me in a spot between reverb and delay.

So you have the mix at 8:00??? Wow....
I don't find the CC best for rhythm.

I think one pedal that rivals the CC is the Aqua Puss....

For dual delay, the Analog Man ARDX20!!!!!
