Can't seen to get a good delay setting down mostly for leads does anyone have any tips are you suppose to set the delay time to the bpm of the song to blend in good thanks

For leads, I prefer having quite a short delay, similar to a reverb in a way, gives you a really fat, smooth, liquid sound that lots of guitarists love for soloing.

Makes you sound better than you are, you'll love it.

Some guitarists like Vai and Satch (I think) and also Andy Timmons (...I think) use a long and short delay at the same time, they all use 2 delays anyway. The point is, the short delay gives you that smoothness and the long delay can follow the BPM or half the BPM or whatever like you were talking about. Problem with timed delays that follow BPM is that if you slightly fuck up a note's timing, you've fucked it up 8 or 9 times.

I set it at around 375ms, feedback two repeats or so and adjust the mix to taste.

No set rule

I usually use a long delay for soloing 600ms....even 800ms is cool with several repeats. It sits back more behind your notes and doesn't get as cluttery. A little dab will do ya.

The most important thing I'd ask is, where is the delay? Into the input of the amp or into the effects loop?

My favorite delay setting is my Boss DM-2 analog delay, set for max delay time, which is about 350 ms, with a few repeats, and mixed in at about 1/3. Gives a little bigness, without cluttering up the notes.
