My 71 SL has four and SB has two so it looks like the whatever plan was in play.

Nope. Not at all. You cant hear it when you turn the volume up. Only a little hiss from the preamp gain. All these non master volumes have a little low level hum, at least the several I have owned. If a master volume is added it goes away.

Wow that is nice! If I wasn’t changing up for lower wattage stuff I’d buy this in a heart beat GLWTS!!
