I want to pick one of these up soon, just not sure which one to go with. I'm gonna try and play both side by side before hand, but I'm curious what you all who have experience with both think. It seems that the 68 has more breakup, while the 65 has more headroom. Of course there's the different speakers in both and the Bassman tone stack in the 68. I'd be using this as more of a pedal based amp. Which do you guys like and why? Thanks!

I got the 65 in the head iteration. Super awesome amp for dream like Fender cleans, and there is plenty of breakup if you goose it a little :)

Great tones there. Have you played the 68?

I had the reissue version of the '65, an original '65, and an original '68. If I were buying today I'd get the reissue '68. Better speaker, reverb on both channels, bass man tonestack, takes pedals like a champ. You might also want to check out the '68 Vibrolux reissue as well.

Awesome. Thanks man. I prefer a 12" speaker, so I'm going with the DR.

Try them both. I prefer the '68, you might like the '65.

Just based on clips I've heard, the '68 sounds better to me. Sounds fuller and fatter. More options too.

I thought that the 68 had more headroom and the 65 broke up when cranked?

That sounded good Reza.
What was the echo effect that you were using? Sounded echorec-ish.

My assumption is solely based on clips I've heard. Have you played both?

That was very calming. Nice job. Everyone has to have a Fender in their collection, can't beat the cleans.

I have been thinking of getting the 65 head for years... there is nothing like it in its price range

Is the '68 RI made in Mexico and the '65 still in USA? That's not necessarily an automatic no-buy for me but literally, every MIM Fender amp I've owned has had issues with pots and jacks crapping out or coming loose from the board.

This is definitely a point to consider.
