Deraps on the Variac

So that's maybe why my amp changes in feel and volume sometimes whereas my volume reference youtube on computer speaker stays the same. Perhaps a voltage regulator might help to make it consistent...

When he drops the voltage how come the the light on the Marshall is not dimming

I use a Variac. Might be the same model he is using. My reasons were because my last house would routinely be at 126v'ish out of the wall at night.

The Variac keeps me at 115 to 117 and that works for me. Not running any vintage amps these days though.

This ^^^ I started using a variac some time back when I also discovered that our wall voltage had some wide swings from day to day. Its set at 110 and I re-biased all my heads at that voltage. As Jacob demonstrates, its not dramatic, but there is a difference.

Ditto here on rising wall voltage over the years.

Although I don’t use my variac to drop voltage to low levels, like in the video, my amp seems very happy (and consistent sounding) running at 115-117V. The difference in tone at different input voltages is real.
