Your studio looks awesome, James! I can't even imagine what your feelings are when you're watching the whole thing come together!

BTW, this is one of the most interesting threads I've seen...

Thanks man.

Day 15

great thread .. totally enjoyed taking that journey thanks for sharing ..

hey J
is marco documenting everything he does to the console for you, besides you videotaping the process?

it sure pays to have copies of all of that repair information stored for future reference in case any issues crop up later, down to the component level, especially any mods done (jumping traces with wires, replacement caps, etc) and the vendor/contact names and numbers of his suppliers, what they supply, with part numbers, general description of what the part's function is, and alternative service contacts he would refer to you and trust, who might be able to service the console if he is unable.

also if there were items on the console notorious for needing repair or replacement you may want to know about it and stockpile a few of those components now before they get ever rarer.

when you first fired up the ssl and ran drum tracks and alice in chains? through it i swear i could hear the difference over your control 24, even through your camera mic/youtube/m audio speakers i have here!

i just wanna hug you--hang in there brotatoes

it's like being held down by a big wave and fighting to get back to the surface
when you finally take that first breath it's so sweet!

the little things we take for granted...like a studio you just turn on and USE!

I haven't mixed on an SSL since 2001... there is just a MOJO that those consoles have that cannot be replicated in the box, I don't care what plugins you are using.

Congrats man, enjoy a great tool!

i've always thought of the sound of the ssl to be this crystal clear airy thing like there's nothing between the source and the monitor, super transparent circuitry, but you can lift the highs in a way that is non-destructive yet penetrating in the modern pop way.

versus like a trident console with it's rich fat sound, and you've more than got that base covered with your killer rack modules and tape machine.

so stoked for you!
