This NAMM 2011 press document details both the Slash and Yngwie Malmsteen signature Marshall offerings:

I'm interested in how the Yngwie amp head sounds:

Marshall YJM100 Yngwie Malmsteen Signature Valve Amplifier Head

December, 2010 - Marshall Amplification is proud to present the Signature YJM100: a 100-watt, valve head that was developed in close conjunction with the legendary Swedish six-string shredder, Yngwie Malmsteen. The YJM offers the perfect balance of vintage tone and looks, alongside modern features which makes the amplifier the perfect players’ tool for “plug in and play” recording or live performance. Malmsteen has been a Marshall devotee from the get-go so this collaboration comes as no surprise to his countless fans. “I can't say enough about my love for the sound, feel and look of the wall of Marshall's. Since I was 10 years old, I’ve insisted on having them behind me at all times,” the guitarist reveals. “I must have had every amp company in the world ask me to endorse them, over the years. To finally have my own signature Marshall is an honor and this amp is truly a master piece!” Based on the power and tone of the “Holy Grail” 1959 Plexi head, the YJM100 offers the ultimate Neo-Classical amp with the following cutting edge features:

1.
Footswitchable* Boost with controls for Volume and Gain on the rear panel.
2.
Footswitchable* Noise Gate with rear panel Threshold control.
3.
Footswitchable* studio quality Digital Reverb with rear panel Level control.
4.
Footswitchable* Series FX Loop
5.
Half power switch which takes the output power from 100W to 50W when engaged.
6.
Built-in, infinitely variable Attenuator control which can take the output stage from 100% to 0.01% and anywhere in-between, while retaining the all-important tone and feel of the all-valve power section. This means the output power can be reduced to a staggering low of 0.05 Watts when in 50W power mode.
7.
Valve Failure Circuitry: meaning that if one of the output valves develops a fault, a visual indicator on the rear of the amplifier shows which one is working incorrectly. This “roadie friendly feature” will save valuable time getting the amplifier back up and running again, should a valve failure occur.
8.
Self-biasing circuitry to ensure proper power valve operation each time valves are changed.

*NOTE: A four-way Footcontroller (PEDL-00046) comes supplied with the YJM100,
facilitating switching of Booster, Gate, Reverb and FX Loop features. This Footcontroller has been designed using Marshall Amplification's patented STOMPWARE® Technology, allowing the user to connect it to the amp using a standard 1/4" guitar cable.
How does Malmsteen sums up the YJM100? “Vintage look and sound, with incredible versatility and features. Remember you can't buy just one!” The limited edition YJM100 will be launched at NAMM 2011. Quantity, Price and ETA, TBA.

Sounds very cool if it based off of a superlead with some added gain for the boost.

I have a feeling this amp will be in the RR price range though.

Yeah says 'limited' edition too, so there will probably only be a certain amount made. :(

I will certainly be buying the Yngwie Marshall....can't wait!!!

sounds cool, but I wonder why they made it 100w - doesn't Yngwie usually play 50's? Interesing that Yngwie's and Joe's Marshall's have built in noise gates. I've always felt that if I needed a noise gate, I should turn down the gain.

NAMM is getting more interesting by the moment this year. I'm actually looking forward to this show much like I was my first time going yrs ago.

G12T-75's is what he has always dug and they are a huge part of his sound. The scoop with his single coils and low end is what he needs to bring out the rythms. He's always said greenbacks and g12h30's aren't tight enough for his runs.. he also likes to max out those DODs so he needs something that keeps it together.

I'm actually more interested in this than the AFD100... finally Marshall is pulling out all the stops and riding the coat tails of their name. Smart marketing and they just waited long enough to pull the Yngwie card out. He was never good enough for them to make him an amp before and now bammo, time to cash in..

The YJM amp looks WAY better than the Slash, based on features. A classic looking modded Plexi, with more gain, and with self biasing, power scaling, reverb, and a noise gate? Awesome! Unless it's way expensive. Then, booooo!!

Wonder if it was built with the idea of being boosted (like he always did) or if the circuit has enough gain on tap?
I dont like the "self-biasing" trend. Thats one gripe I've always had with boogies. The reverb circuit is probably similar to the JVM's, that should sound great.
Sounds like the output section of a 900 (fused to keep running) I like that idea. I hope its a PCB that is more old school than new
Cant wait to hear and see it, I'll bet it will be pretty expensive, but hopefully worth every penny

1.
Footswitchable* Boost with controls for Volume and Gain on the rear panel.

This is why the 100 watt. It gives enough room in the chassis to put the DOD pedal in the back. The knobs on the back should be the same DOD type too.

Interesting.

Jackasses put JYM under the photo's and in some of the text.

It's about DAMM TIME Yngwie got a signature head. He should have gotten one well before a buttwad like Kerry King.

Agreed, I like the options on the YJM much more than Slash's amp.

Yeah what is up with this noisegate crap?? That is part of Yngwie, hearing those raw sc tones.

We need Chubtone, Ed D., Mentoneman, Sah5150, Bob, somebody to hear this amp!

Yngwie uses humbucking single coils, so I don't know why there's a noise gate - hopefully not to compensate for an amp that's just too noisy!

Still, gotta love the design, classic from the front, modded in the back!

He already uses a Boss NS2 to quiet the hiss from his DOD250/YJM308 Overdrive now. I guess the idea here is to build them both into the amp itself.

I wouldn't be the least bit interested to buy $3000 amp that needed to have a $29 DOD to make it sound usable.

Sounds like another Fanbois amp. Just my opinion.....and I wouldn't recognize a Malmsteen song if it whacked me up side the head.

I guess it's an all options on the table amp. You don't have to use the extras. They are just there as a selectable feature. Until we hear a demo after the NAMM debut who knows what's really going on...
