Looks killer to me. I will definitely check that out at NAMM.

Say what you want but Marshall has the most exciting amps this year, IMO. Haters gonna hate though.

Full report bro!!!!

Yeah Marshall may not be using ptp lately but imo they have been putting out solid amps. When are you selling your jvm so I am last man standing??? :D

"Lately"..you mean since 1973   Plus the style Marshall used before then isn't point to point. PTP doesn't involve a board per se. It's just considered a hand wired turret board.

Even though like Dave I've been pretty disallusioned by Marshall after 1983 I'm always up for giving their latest tube amp a try with open ears.

I have been TGP'd

Yes I do know that......TURRET board constructed

Wonder if it was built with the idea of being boosted (like he always did) or if the circuit has enough gain on tap?
I dont like the "self-biasing" trend. Thats one gripe I've always had with boogies. The reverb circuit is probably similar to the JVM's, that should sound great.
Sounds like the output section of a 900 (fused to keep running) I like that idea. I hope its a PCB that is more old school than new
Cant wait to hear and see it, I'll bet it will be pretty expensive, but hopefully worth every penny

Boogies, like Soldanos, are fixed bias. These new Marshalls are self biasing. I'm guessing this is totally different than a fixed bias.

the design sounds cool to me---always loved the dod 250 pedal, probably should have licensed ISP to include the decimator instead of boss noise gate though.

the last sig i dug was the RR marshall so they may be on a roll.

i still think it's insane that they never issued a VH marshall. a relic clone, and if they contracted victor from mojave and rockstah to design it, and bought off eddie to stay out of the design, and just put his name on it, it would be cool i bet. just maybe 20 years too late...

I haven't heard what the built-in 'boost' and noise gate is based on. Probably something from the Marshall pedal line since there would be licensing issues with DOD/Digitech and Boss. But the 250 overdrive is a simple circuit copied many times before. If fact DOD 'borrowed' the circuit design (using different part values) based on the MXR Distortion+ and Ross did the same with their Distortion too. Maybe they are using the built-in 'analog' overdrive circuit used in the 'new' 4 channel programmable MG series 4 solid state amps. When comparing the MG overdrive channel 1 vs the '79 gray spec 250 clone pedal that I built playing it through the amp's clean channel, they are very similar sounding and the 250 clone played through the crunch channel sounds like the amp's overdrive 2 setting with more gain. But with the new YJM100 amp nothing says you have to use the built-in boost and noise gate. You could still use your favorite pedals of choice I suppose.

there's always Eddie Ojeda

does he even count?? :D

Seems Marshall is getting back into using diodes and op amps in the signal path, like the dark days! Unless "boost" brings another preamp tube into the mix? We shall see, soon I hope!

Too funny...I interviewed him a few years ago and I brought this topic up with him....his own Marshall sig...then I looked over at his wife/manager and said, "when are you going to make this happen?" They both laughed but I could tell the wheels were turning, so to speak. I guess it only took them three years....here's a small clip from that interview:

Full report for sure. I'll get some video, too.

Not gonna sell the JVM. :D It sounds too good and is an awesome grab and go solution for me when I need it. Plus, they sell for stupid cheap used and Honestly I'd just rather keep it than get 12 or 13 hundred for it.
