Looking to slap some different pickups in my korina vector. I'm strongly considering these two pickups, but wanted some feedback on similarities/differences etc. I play mostly metal (not death metal).

Do yourself a favor then, and get a nailbomb or painkiller in the bridge!!! I tried the rebel yell, and I dont think it does metal very well. FWIW

I have some c-bombs in there right now. Too dark and strong in the low end with this particular guitar than what I'm looking for. Funny you mention the Painkillers. If I go high output I'm going with a Painkiller bridge & Cold Sweat neck. I've just been digging the lower output stuff lately so I'm trying to narrow it down to a higher & lower output choice.

I do not think you would want a Detroiter either. I have a set, I like them, but they are a little dark and just don't seem very "metal" to me.

I definitely agree with you on the "dark" part.

I wouldn't have thought the Detroiters were dark from the little I've heard about them . Then again there isn't much out there about them anyway. How would you describe the eq curve on these? Are they tight pickups?

I can"t say I found them dark but they are tight and sound exceptional. :thumbsup:corrected  I didn't find the m Dark at all

I would go with a miracle man or a holydiver... maybe a painkiller... And please, ALNICO, I just hate ceramic pups...

Miracle man seems to have the muscles you want, withou being too dark. Warpig seems too much, but I really lke it's tone and dinamics. Even for a 21k output beast.

+1 for the Solution. Also check out the Angel Dust. Great sounding pup, best pick attack tone of them all. Lower output than the Solution but don't be fooled by that, they kick ass for metal.

+1 I just put an Angel Dust in the bridge of one of my guitars. Very good pup! I have a Detroiter in another for more of a tone that leans towards the vintage side.

I'm not put off by lower output at all. I hadn't even considered the Angel Dust or really heard much about them for that matter. I'll have to check those out.

Awesome pickups for sure.

That's strange, I use the Detroiters and they never even came close to sounding dark? And I've installed about 4 or 5 for customers too....guess that just shows how everyone's ears hear things differently. To me, they are very punchy with a P-90 almost quality to them, and are only about 9k or so.

But I wouldn't suggest them for metal either. Any of the BKPs and Motor City mentioned prior would all work. Just different vibe for each one.

Interesting comment... I find ceramics have their place for sure in certain styles and tones.

It's probably less to do with differing opinions than it is trying to translate to text what our ears are hearing! :) Perhaps "dark" is the wrong word..

Not Dark like a Dimarzio Tone Zone, but certainly (again to my ears) a rounder tone than say, the 2nd degree black belt.

+1 Solutions,I have a set in 2 guitars and love them. When I'm pounding
the E string it sounds chunky and solid like an active pup,not that floppy
after effect, real solid and alot of output.
Call him and tell him what you're looking for,I'm sure he'll help you out.

Maybe "dark" is the wrong word and "rounded" is more appropriate. I agree with the P90 vibe and I dont mind the low output at all, the tone is really nice from the pickups. They are punchy, I replaced paf pro's with these and do not regret it at all.

I guess from the description I read when I bought them I expected a little more cutting tone from these, but I am still happy!
