anyone hear any of the rest of the cd yet? The tone on this is killer, from an old post someone said EVH?
 
The engineer, mark Lewis, is one of my best friends. Hung out with the DD guys almost every night when they were trackin this record. I'm 99.9 percent sure mark reamped the entire record with the laney ironheart. He absolutely loved it under a mic, sounded great for sure. Through an oversized recto cab as usual as well. There might be some 5153 thrown in there as well ( was originally all 5153 I believe) but the ironheart made the cut.
 
Killer, My favorite band along w testament.... we used Ironheart and EVH on our debut cd ..check us out Threatpoint available on itunes "dead to rise"

Do you know how they tracked the guitars on winter kills ?
 
The Last Kind Words was my high point with Devildriver, tbh. The last few cds have left me kind of bored. This song being no different. Continuous repetition of the F word really turns me off. They are definitely channeling their dumbed-down Pantera vibe on this song.
 
The lackluster is even more evident when I played (and compared it to) "Arise" and then "At Dawn They Sleep" on the Roadrunner soundcloud link to the right. I will listen to the rest of the cd as maybe this particular track isn't a good representation of the whole?
 
It's brutal it's raw it kicks ass. You guys dissect music too much. For me I like to put it on n jam out. Heavy groove. Rig talkers critique everything.

I'm not really a "rig-talker" per-se; just pop in once in awhile. That's cool you dig it! I just like them when they were a little busier musically is all. \m/
 
It's only one song off disc they change it up song to song.
Pray for villains has some awesome work on it
 
I love dd as long as they don't start w the radio cock ballads n turn into 5fdp sellouts I'm good with it.
 
Uggghhhh...5FDP... I remember starting a KSE station on Pandora long ago and no matter how many times I 'disliked' their songs they kept getting recommended to me. Awful, just awful.
 
The thing is, Dez dropping F-Bomb like a tough guy is exactly what that 5FDP "singer" does in every song. Which is what immediately made it sound like knuckledragger, meathead crap to me. I realize it's metal, but cussing to cover up the lack of creativity in lyrics or to force aggression in heavy music is stale as hell.
 
^but beyond that, after listening to it again; I will say there are definitely some good grooves in the song; just not digging lyrical slant at all.
 
New cd is out totally kick ass tight n groovey. I heard revamping was done w iron heart also heard evh? Def has great guitar tone !
